Can’t remember last time a car was so universally despised. It obviously is just an exercise in ugliness to make the 720 look more acceptable. Wonder if this is part of the reason or the result of Frank Stephenson leaving, can’t imagine him being very proud of this thing.
I imagine that this what this car has lost in looks that it will more than make up in performance on track. Whether or not one should pay that much and get something that's not visually adored by all is another question. This may highlight key differences in design decisions between Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren.
It really doesn't look very pretty. Sure, maybe it'll go around the track quicker but why make it street legal if it's hideous?
Great to see this hideous beast has made it's way to this thread as well...looks uglier the more pics get posted. Sad P1 replacement is an abomination.
720s looks fantastic to me except for the front, I still haven’t gotten used to the headlight design.
I can forgive that. Looking forward to picking up a low milage unit with $50k off min this time next year. It's a good looking car (much more so than 488 IMHO).
I have to agree however I believe the 720s will not have the same depreciation curve at the previous mclarens. Reason being it is a game changer as far as performance just like the Nissan GTR was
It will. There will be some new 'must have car' next year and McLaren will over build 720's as usual. This is not a LE car as you know. It will drop because Mac never controls production. Demand is high now because limited units. That will open WIDE up come Mar-Apr next year. Then '19 will come out and there will be '18s parked at dealers. Happens every model for them. 570 was suppose to stop that bleeding, but it didn't. I can't wait to pick one up.
dont think so. The 720s is produced together with the 540s/570s/570spyder soon with the 570lt and the p15 senna. the 3 seater following soon, so there is just no room for an over production of the 720s The 540/570 is there volume model. Willst the mp4 and 650s were almost the only model at this time produced, mclaren has now just more models produced simultainly, while the total of cars is still around 4000 per year. The 720s should not exeed more than 1500 units per year
Only time will tell. Too much competition in that $300K range these days (and will be more next year). Either way, I look forward to being right yet again
I hope your right but I have my reservations... if I was a turbo guy I would buy a 720s over a 488 the 720s aside from the performance is incredible looking and gives me that level of excitement just looking at it. The only car I would consider parting with my car for is the speciale aperta but I love my 458 spider... checks off all the boxes for me and is about 450,000. Cheaper lol winning
