The 458 has been in production for two years longer, and they made a lot more.... i'm too tired for this debate anymore.....
Make up your mind....Are you talking them down or are you not trying to?? P.S. I am with Keith. I hope for Whatever reason(Divine Intervention?) that you N E V E R get a McLaren! Ritesh - Proud McLaren owner.
My impression is that there are far fewer 650 sales and much higher prices. Of course that is also my hope, because it really is only a slight increment quicker than the 12C and if it dropped precipitously, the 12C would be further depressed in price. It's pretty early to tell much about volume or prices.
That seems like a very accurate comment; the prices for these, and the 458 are waaay too much in my eyes....crazy money
There's too much art in NYC. You can't give'm away. They're for sucker$ who want to feel like they have some artistic blood. Huge markups. Worthless $100 paintings hyped to be worth 10K. Salesmen makes money to buy Ferraris. When it comes to resale buyer finds nobody wants them. You can't give'm away. The market determines it's resale ($0) value not me. Better to spend your $ on solid investments like McLarens. At least you'll look good. ---Just Kidding! But seriously...
And odd that one of the big detractors supposedly has financial interest in dealers? Why dis your product or that sold by a friend's dealership. Anyway, Roy Cats usually seems to have a good handle on prices with bargains galore and is asking about $185K for this 2012, so I do wonder if it just might take a flood or big shunt to create that $125K 12C: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/cats-exotics/455495-2012-mclaren-mp4-12c-lynnwood-washington.html#post143265334
Prices definitely have seemed to stabilize; on the flip side; he has had a 650 for about two months now, which really struck me as odd...surprised to see that a secondary dealer had one so quickly. 2015 McLaren 650S Spider Lynnwood, Washington | Cats Exotics
McLaren needed to hire the marketing guys from Porsche. THEY release the expensive version of the model first and then release the lower priced models later which builds HUGE interest in the model. I.E.. P1 first...then 12c...then the upgraded 12C=650S PS...Ritesh have no fear as I just drove a 12C on Monday and its definitely NOT for me....
Miller Motor in CT, an authorized dealer, has this 2012 with 2,565 miles for $179K McLaren 2012 McLaren MP4-12C - Pre-Owned Inventory And there are a few on eBay in the 160s or even less if you are a DYIer not afraid of a repair challenge... Other Makes MP4 12C | eBay
No big surprise. You clearly don't think much of the marque or the car. That marketing plan would be unique. Porsche did not start with 918 or Carrera GT for that matter. Ferrari did not start with LaFa. The hyper cars are just different, for different demographics. I'm not going to go get a 911 or 458 because of the cool hyper car I can't afford. I'll get a 911 or 458 because I like that particular car. I suppose there is some halo effect, but I don't see any manufacturer starting with a $1million car so it can sell $300K cars later on. And specifically I see Porsche starting with basic 911, then later offering Turbo, GT3, etc, and the 918 is just now about to hit the ground. What are you saying Porsche does? We get it. 12Cs have depreciated. But I don't think you can get one right now for under 160k. So that would be a nearly 3 year old car for $100k under sticker or so. 10-15% per year depreciation. No longer shocking. Keep waiting and you can get one cheaper. No surprise there, either.
Nope, that's not what Porsche does. They release the less expensive models first and then gradually introduce the more expensive ones. They've done this consistently for many years with the 911. First the base car, then the cabriolet, then the 4 wheel drive version, then the 4 wheel drive cabriolet, then the Turbo, then the Turbo cabriolet, then the Turbo S (or a power kit like the X-50 back in 2002), then the Turbo S cabriolet. At some point in the mix there's a GT3 and then eventually a GT3 RS. I think those usually come after the turbo introductions. Some models also get a club sport version, some get an anniversary version, some even get GT2 versions. But all of the more expensive variants show up long after the base models have been on the market for a while. *I might be mixing up the order of the cabrio and the 4WD coupes but the idea is still the same. The more expensive models follow later.
Wow amazing deal here. 13 spider asking 217K with 721 miles. Looks really loaded. I bet you could get this for $200K. 2013 McLaren MP4-12C Spider, $217,900 - Cars.com
I doubt it, supply of Spiders have tightened up, Mclaren shipped: 2013 - 600 total 12C about 450 of those Spiders 2014 - 400 total 12C about 300 of those Spiders Owners are holding on to the cars, some upgrading to 650s but at a fairly significant price premium for negligible performance gains. Dealers in CA, PA and CT buying all they can get, Some 458 guys crossing over, tired of getting their a$$ whipped by a Spider while waiting on their Speciale, Porsche guys tired of explaining why their $200K Turbo S is better than the $85K basic Carrera...they all look the same....a little bit of sarcasm in this Anyways, this car might bring slightly lower dollars due to the color combination and fewer options, for my eye I don't find the black/brown combo works well. Mine is the one on the right, which 12C would you buy, the one on cars.com or mine? MB Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here is a great deal : 2012 McLaren MP4-12C Coupe, $163,900 - Cars.com Im sure it could be had for $155k.. All it needs are the multi spoke wheels.
Assuming that all the updates and upgrades have been done, this is an amazing buy! Agree on the wheels, especially if they were dark grey.
....plus a clean CarFax and warranty extension. Check out the CarFax on the link in the Cars.com advert. It shows disabling accident damage and a factory warranty that rubs out in just over 4 months.... That car will sit for months, even at $155K, and is not really indicative of 12C values. FF
Sorry but that is an HORRENDOUS Spec. Why would you go with a black exterior but not get the stealth package is beyond me. It will need software updates if you want it be up to spec with McLaren dealer cars. Otherwise it is an amazing deal!! The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if Boardwalk is selling it just to make the 12C resale look bad.
Yeah, brown/tan interior is hideous. Resale on brown interior exotics outside of Ferrari is terrible. Personally I'd never buy brown/tan in any exotic, but some people like it in Ferraris for some reason. Oddly enough, I've never seen any of the special Ferrari cars with tan interiors.
Another 13 spider with 3500 miles. Surely you could get this for $200K. That's a steal 2013 McLaren MP4-12C Spider, $210,000 - Cars.com
