Hmm I wonder what the reason could be for this it would seem he enjoys the car and doesn't need the money. Atkinson mentions that the value of the car has come into play, but it still seems like an odd move to me. What could possibly replace an F1 in the garage? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bear in mind that he has owned the car from new (the better part of 18 years) so after that much time it may be a question of change for change's sake. The massive appreciation of these cars also increases the costs of ownership and the difficulty of use as everyone around you treats the car as so much more precious. With that much time of ownership, combined with the extra hassles, and the ability to do very well financially (Mr. Atkinson is wealthy but no billionaire so the sales amount would register beyond a rounding error) would make someone think about moving on. Just an opinion based on no first hand knowledge.
Is it known if Mr. Atkinson is getting a P1? I could not find a yay or nay to that on F-chat or elsewhere on the Internet…T
$1 million dollars per year appreciation is pretty amazing. Methinks only the Zonda will rival that in the coming years.
This is the most active McLaren F1 thread, so I posted this here: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73LNmkL4tfg[/ame]

Spotted this baby blue beauty at a Coffee & Cars event a few years ago...it stole the show. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Another add to this excellent thread. A series of short films about McLaren F1 GTR birth and race in Le Mans. Neither a pic nor a video, but... Rowan Atkinson sold his twice-crashed McLaren F1 for almost £8 million
If you are still looking, I was just sent the link to this image on Flickr which appears to show this car from that event. Very rare shot! HiRes available: https://www.flickr.com/photos/128264505@N05/16693593915/in/dateposted/ >8^) ER Image Unavailable, Please Login
Peloton, know which chassis that is? Not sure I've seen a picture of a brown F1 before other than maybe one or two of the Mexico car. This that one? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
