    Supposedly asking 25 million GBP...

As an investment, the owner could've done better with the capital they already had on hand to acquire that car new. Buying an expensive asset new that has negative cash flow throughout its life to then pay a commission to sell is not a great way to invest (not even accounting for the poor liquidity of a car).

The story doesn't even add up...TH jr (seller) said owner didn't do it for investment purposes and did it to enjoy looking at it in the garage. It was stored at a non-residential facility and not something you can easily step out of your living room to look at.

I don't fault supercar owners for not putting many miles on their cars as they likely worked and continue to work very hard to be able to buy them...time is valuable. But at least they take the wrapper off and do drive it a few times a year.

A complete waste for arguably the greatest driver's car of all time. Hope the next owner has some sense to actually drive it.

Like marrying a super model, locking her in the closet, and staying celibate.

It reminds me of wine collectors who can't drink the wine they collect.

Maybe he went and walked the storage facility ?

I understand the original owners perspective. I have a valuable collection of art in a big storage unit. I may not see it much but I know its there and that males me happy

I don't know about anyone else, but I am weird. Sometimes I'll buy two of the same gun if I really have a strong connection to it. Eg. I bought two P7M8s as they were special at the time and I wanted one to shoot and one to keep perfect. I do get a certain anal-retentive joy of keeping something in perfect condition. If someone was ballsy enough they should have bought two F1's. One to drive and one to keep in the wrapper- a perfect time capsule.

McLaren really struggled with sales, which makes the supercar market of today even more impressive and makes me think that a large part of it is a bubble.

Agree, but he certainly chose the correct car to admire. Imagine if he had chosen another great car of the era - the Bugatti EB110.

It doesn't matter in the slightest. Real history was created with the rest of them, and viewed in the context of the next 100 years, just like the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost 40/50 hp, still desired today, when this one is 100 it will probably have been driven to the moon and back and restored over and over. Somebody gets the chance to buy a "new" one today.
