A friend sent me a link to a McLaren sort of kit car. It's called DDR SP4. www.ddrmotorsport.com/
I always wondered, if a company that could build something like that, why they wouldn't make they're own design. I see that they want to offer a V8 set up, I guess something like an Ultima.

Yes add this to the list of cars with unoriginal styling. Apparently their designers couldn't do anything but copy the lines of the F1 and add a few vents here and there. So far the list included the Mosler MT900 and Saleen S7. I wonder what will appear next?

Don't forget the Joss. Looks more like the F1 than the MT900 & S7 combined.

The V-8 model might be cannceled due to the lack of G50 porsche trannys out there.

I like the Utima much better but for now im looking into the factory five GTM

    www.factoryfive.com

the kit only costs 19k with tax/such about 22k they claim you can build it for under 30k and all you need is a C5 Corvette donor.

They said it will do 0-60 in the mid it low 3's and run 1/4mile somewhere in the 11's. Thats just with the stock Corvette engine, im sure if you bolt on a basic Vortech Supercharger its capable of atleast a mid 10second pass.

    Not bad for only 34k.

I don't like the looks of the car but I like how they used quality carbon fiber parts, lightweight wheels, an LS1, Tilton clutch, etc. Like it or not, the car has quality parts.

dang.... I think that car looks pretty bad ass. There was one picture where I really didn't like the curves and such, but my gosh that thing looks amazing from the profile. Heck, the back the width, the wheel gaps, front and all of it looks good, except that rear quarter shot. Anyhoo, very nice looking car. I would love to get in some seat time.

Uh the S7 and Mosler don't look much like the F1.

The S7 and Mosler are Mclaren Wannabes.

Regardless they don't share much styling that isn't dictated by aerodynamics.

Steve Saleen said himself the F1 influenced his design because he likes the F1 a lot.

The Doors of the cars are the same. The headlamps to, and the reartail lights.

And influence means its going to look like one? The McLaren F1 has influenced every super-car design since it has come out.

Concerning body styling the saleen has much longer overhangs, in the rear especially. The rear body line heads up while the F1's turns flat. The Saleen's front end rounds down into a chin spoiler that jutts out. The F1 rounds down and does not have a spoiler. The F1's front also has much more of a 'cut' to it than the Saleens.

The designs do share some proportions, but obviously not all, and the similiarties shared are also shared with XJ220, the Enzo, the Zonda, The MC12, the Mosler, the Spyker and a host of others. You may see it. as a copy, but I don't.

I never said it was a copy. I'm saying the S7 looks similar to the F1. Out of all the cars you listed, the S7 resembles the F1 the most. I don't analyze the minute details between the cars. I look at it as a whole. I would agree that there are zero parts on the S7 that match the F1's shape exactly, but the overall design looks similar imo.
