    An much earlier response this morning mentioned his wife who apparently is also involved in some fashion with F1. Who knows . . .

    I know Paul, but I always liked Nigel Stepney, now to think of him as a turncoat is terrible.

    How can this be??? Ron Dennis said unequivically that "NO OTHER MCL EMPLOYEES WERE INVOLVED." Starting to sound like William Jefferson Clinton of "I never had sex with that woman" fame.

    What a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to decieve.

    Who could it be?

    Might be interesting to fingerprint the documents. :D

    If after watching this clip, you don't think Schumi is the greatest driver ever, then you are obviously a diehard McLaren fan and the only reasonable action you can take is depicted by the picture below...:D

    AMICI,

    As I stated in this previous post, "The fish stinks from the head, not from the tail!" I can't believe that, "No Ferrari Data is in Our Cars."

    This situation is getting more involved as facts are revealed. The accuracy of these facts are still in question, to my way of thinking, and further investigation is needed, as there is more to this than we now know. A woman being possibly involved, now raises other questions and involvements, if true.

    I think it's a very sad day for F1, particularly if the truth is not completely discovered and shown to the world. With this and the Michelin Fiasco at Indianapolis, I'm not sure following F1 Racing, is worth my time, money and attention. Proper dispensation needs to be enacted, and the TRUTH and JUSTICE, be restored. I believe Ferrari, as well as WE, should demand it from the F.I.A. and the other Legal Agency's, involved.

    Ciao...Paolo

    I'm shocked you guys don't have this posted here, but as reported today by Autosport and the German publication Auto, Motor und Sport:

    I want to point out that I don't believe the source is good, but I've seen this information on multiple sites all day today.

    it would be quite an advantage to know the race strategy of your opponent, especially if they did not know you had it.

    All the McLaren apologists need to read this. All the teams have to design to the same formula. Some solutions from other teams can be determined visually. Other solutions are hidden and can only be speculated on. Finding out how another (successful) team solved difficult problems could be very useful. The solution won't be copy/paste for your own problems, but it can give you another design path you hadn't considered yet.

    Yeah i think i'm not even gonna bother getting into the debate anymore until all the facts comes to light. The story is just so hard to swallow. The whole thing just stinks to me. To think it might wreck the most competive season in year is a travesty.

    This whole thing is very sad, but I have to say I don't believe that they will not be required to take drivers points if all this proves true. The fact that they had this info taints the cars. The drivers were driving tainted cars. Kimi and Felipe were driving for the championship with an unfair disadvantage caused by the Ferrari documents being in the hands of McL designer. Like it or not the cars are the main reason that lewis and Alonso are winning. Seems simple to me.
    Think of the difference in money alone it could make for Kimi if he had just dominated this year and won the WDC and now can we fairly say that Lewis would have set the rookie records? I am not trying to say he wouldn't have because I think he is really something , but now everything done this year is questionable.
    Just offering some other thoughts, and before anyone else says lets quiet down and wait until all the facts are in. Give me a break. This is a CHAT site for God sake.

    BTW although people are constantly complaining about the scandels in Nascar being bad for the sport, I don't believe they would be where they are without them. I have been covering the sport for many years and there is always a long list of cheaters and scandel and everybody loves it.

    Right, it's Ferrari's fault for wearing a red mini jupe.

    In the end, this fiasco may actually do more for capturing the interest of the
    general US audience then Foxed out commercials with a touch of
    intermingled race coverage.

    I would doubt this would help one bit. Speed hasn't even covered this story much and it's a huge one. Same old NASCAR crap as usual.

    The 500 page document received by the Mclaren employee contained the following information:

    The 500 pages contain:

    - construction drawings and data of the F2007;
    - details of the internal structures and workflows in Maranello;
    - information on the main engineers;
    - data on car setups;
    - race strategies;
    - preparation of the cars;
    - development plans for the future;
    - quality control standards;
    - testing results.

    If this is true, I dont know how anyone could not consider this theft. Does not matter one iota whether it was used or not, possesion of it alone is criminal. And, if over a million pounds were paid, its virtually impossible for me to believe MCL/MB didnt pay it. Very sad to read all this, very very sad. And I agree, if found true, MCL should be disqualified for the entire season and lose all thier points. Sneaking around in a public area with a camera is a far cry different than having your trusted man take money on the side and hand over all your company secrets. I dont know about european laws or justice, but here in the US the feds could give you 20 years in federal prison for something like this if found guilty.

    Absolutely. It would be completely unfair against Kimi and Felipe if Alonso and Hamilton kept the points they won with a cheated car. Just imagine the break of the rules by McLaren would be something more obvious, like, whatever, fitting turbos. Would you still say Alonso&Hamilton should keep the points being gained with such cars?

    it's really a sad case. like Andreas pointed out earlier, the 2007 season is just meaningless now. if what someone above posted that they had information about the drawings, and other information about the team and the car, then i gotta agree that they should be excluded from the championship.

    with the Mac person being such a senior figure, he should have really thought about the consequences. i'm just really surprised and disappointed.
