Speaking with someone at LFSC today... apparently they are to become a McLaren dealer, one of 8 in the US. cars to come first quarter of next year. sweet! like the car or not, the new McL is a tech tour de force, and in the world of exotics... the more the merrier!
Awesome! McLaren is not only a true exotic, but one that backs it up by competing in the top level of motorsports. Which puts it into a very exclusive club with Ferrari and Lotus (if only by name).
- Sounds interesting but i recall when Bugatti was coming to Continental AutoSports in 1995. Just my $0.02
back then, Bugger was a non company. How many cars did they produce? Hardly any... a lot of smoke and mirrors. Bugger is kind of a non company again today, were it not for the backing of VW. They've sold, what, 220 cars over the past few years? No way they would survive without VW. McLaren has a very large operation. They are branching out / back into road cars with their own name on it.
And those 220 cars drive the living daylights out of pretty much every other car on the planet. Pretty good for a non company.
Would McClaren survive without all the work they do for other companys over the years? I dont think they have been gliding by on the profits from the F1 that was last made well over 10 years ago are they? How many cars does Bugatti need to produces to be valid? The Veyron is an engineering marvel that basically trumps just about everything ever made. I dont see where the smoke and mirrors come in. What differance does it make where the money comes from the cars are real. I dont see the need to invalidate them. And if you add up 220 cars it totals roughly $350,000,000 in sales, also not bad for a 'non-company'.
Yea but I just meant they were never meant to survive without VWAG. I felt it was impressive with a small amount of cars to have $350M in sales. Bugattis werent supposed to be a stand alone profit machine.
True.. but they still might come out ahead They already developed a convertible on the platform and now they may do a sedan. If they make some more models they could get some good cash flow. Amazing that Bugatti at 1.5mm has no problem selling really, but Maybach at $300-400k..tough times.
