Meaning, if you make a thread which begins with talk about the Mac being better than the 458, on F-Chat, combined with the fact that 2 or 3 other threads clearly showing the 458 spanking the Mac, expect to hear some "less than polite", shall we say, replies.
Martin- Motor Trend is a great place to read about comparison tests of 7 economy cars, but is way behind the power curve on inside information about Ferraris. Pretty much all they do is parrot back what they "hear". Their track record is pretty poor. Taz Terry Phillips
Indeed. I've driven 3 Ferraris (F430, California, and a 458 Italia) as well as two Lamborghinis (Diablo VT Roadster and a Gallardo Spyder) as well as various Porsches, Corvettes, Vipers, and a Maserati. They were all special in their own unique way, but as far as pure driving excitement, nothing can beat a Ferrari. Hell, my 172hp MINI Cooper S sure as hell isn't the fastest car on the road, but boy is it fun!!! -G.B.
Just read this: Power for the newest Scuderia monster may come from a turbocharged V8 that will push out anywhere from 590 HP to 700 HP. At one point, Ferrari boss, Luca di Montezemolo, said that a 458 Scuderia would not be produced because the 458 Italia was just so advanced, so if rumors are circulating that a Scuderia will follow, then we expect to see a power output that will blow our minds. The only problem is, we wont see it until at least the end of 2013.
Dont belive everything that you read. It is normal from Luca to say the best cars are those in the production. There is not big deal to improve 458 italia just by shaving weight, and more aggressive settings for the engine management and for the exhaust. These technologies were available when the 458 italia came out. Theres no point in a tubro 458 italia......Ferrari didn't build cars for straight speed. F its not a tuning house. No power will blow our mind. Bugatti supersport has 1200hp. Ferrari is not about absurd power. Scuderia/Challenge stradale version of 458 will add 20-30 hp to the 570 of 458 italia.
Sounds like nonsense to me. The Scuderia/CS was basically the road going Challenge version. Foremost was a 100kg weight loss, better throttle response and mid-range torque and a variety of suspension and TC mods. Not to mention the most advance brakes. These had tremendous effect on performance. Scud was 0.5 secs faster to 100kph and about 2-3 seconds a lap faster around Fiorano. A totally new engine is highly probable. The car is due 2013.
Scud's launch is the end of the product life cycle of the model(458). 458 was launched in 2011 so i don't see the scud being launch in 2013. Perhaps in 2015/6. Track back to the 360 CS an 430 Scud, never 2 yrs after launch of the model.
I am confused by your 458 launched in 2011 comment. I saw pictures of the 458 in August of 2009 and then the car was shown in September of 2009 at Frankfort and deliveries started in Europe not too long after that. Cars started to arrive in U.S. in May of 2010 and I drove multiple 458s at Mont Tremblant in July of 2010, so wouldn't a 2013 launch of the Scud 458 be about right?
458 Italia was launched in September 2009. Expect the "Scuderia" version in 2013 - perhaps even to debut late 2012 (although unlikely because Enzo replacement would debut 2012). The increased competition from the likes of McLaren will hasten the 458 "Scuderia" development.
