    Do the last 5 digits pertain to anything in particular for the F40 chassis? I realize the 7xxxx are early editions and prototypes, then 8xxxx and ending with the 9xxxx.

    No. They are just the serial number of the car and not all the numbers in the sequence 7xxxx to 9xxxx are F40s, some will be Testarossas, Mondials, 328s etc. Broadly speaking the higher the number the later the car.
