about 30000 miles used. The outer edge is higher than the inner edge by about 0.15 mm, I take 4 points of reference for this measurement (90degree,180degree,270degree,360degree). it is like 0.18mm, 0.12mm, 0.12mm...... so, for the record, the taper is about 0.25 degrees. but, that's after its used. compare that to the OEM new spec Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It will vary a lot depending on how hot it gets and how much it gets hot. I have seen a lot more than that and in fewer miles. .
Interesting. I'll be going with the Hill Engineering Flywheel when I do my clutch in the next month or so.
I have never needed to replace one. I know a lot of shops who had so much trouble getting them surfaced correctly they replace them. I bought a few of those so I had some spares sitting on the shelf surfaced and ready to install.
I resurfaced the flywheel. It peels the surface by 0.2mm and kept the tapered shape. It seems the hardened surface is no longer there with spotted residuals as you can see in the pictures. I'll try and see if this one still ok to use. Motto: Doing it right the first time isn't important, doing it right the 3rd time is better.
