This car sold for $12,750. Granted the wheels are fugly and the bidder pays an auction premium, this still seems like a pretty good deal. Is the high bidder on Fchat? If so, how did it turn out?

I guess it is a sign of the times, plus most are not going to Mecum to pick up a 308 (unless there is some unique history or special car). Still for 12K for a carb 308, not bad.

Wow, those wheels are really bad. Maybe the worst I've seen...how did that happen?

I've seen worse wheels, but those are bad. I would say well bought at that price.

Mecum or BJ is not the place to sell anything other than American antique or muscle, or something silly like a Batmobile or fire truck. Time and again, Lambos, Ferraris and Panteras sell for stupid low money.

About 6 months ago I was watching Barret Jackson and a BMW 6 series cab went for low $20s. This was an $80k car at least. And they didn't even try pushing it, the bidding started and was over in probably less than a minute.

If you notice, whenever an exotic comes up to bid, the excitement on the stage suddenly becomes subdued and they push the car off as fast as possible. Then a Mustang or Camaro (no flame intended I love these cars also) comes up next and they will halt bidding mid way through and proclaim how great the car is to regenerate more interest.

It's just not the correct forum for exotics or European cars in general to trade hands.

I agree with you Phil. Totally wrong venue for anything European.

By the same token, sometimes F cars sell for crazy high prices at auctions such as these. Uneducated buyers.

Wow...crazy low price but whoever bought it better be a mechanic or have a fist full of cash though, because no one with a decent 308GTB would sell it with Mecum...unless it was in really bad shape...or they were really stupid.

The wheels can be swapped easily, maybe the demand for these cars are just not there...

If you have a good Ferrari, NEVER sell at one of these auctions. The best cars are sold for good money by word of mouth.
