Anybody know the dates for the FCA meet at the Daytona Speedway in November? My ex has told me about it several times but he can't remember the dates. He has the papers and sign up form at home, but he is at meet in the Poconos today and who knows when he will return home. I tried searching for the dates but my search came up empty. Just wondering if any of you knew the dates. We wanted to get to booking flights/hotel/car hauler ASAP (today). Thanks!

I havent heard of one, or read about one in the FL newsletter. The FCA had events using the banking in 77,78 & 79 and in SCCA infield track for a couple of yrs thereafter; Then Daytona declined to rent to Clubs, a policy I think still stands.

He must be thinking of the Turkey Rod Rod, it's the big event at Daytona in November. Not an FCA event by any means but worth checking out if you like old American metal.

That is a possibility. He gets confused easily and when he saw the words Daytona & Ferrari I bet he didn't read much further. I'll have to stop by his house and read it for myself. Thanks!

So maybe the rumors are true? Just too early to tell for sure. Let me know if you find out anything.

Think I saw an ad for it in the latest Hemmings. The description made the event sound on par with the Poconos all-Italian track weekend. Mid-November 2008 from what I recall.

I doubt we will see an FCA event for Daytona. Besides that this would be pure insanity to let a bunch of untrained drivers onto te bankings of Daytona it is also one of the most expensive tracks to rent. About 2.5 times as much as Sebring or 8 times as much as Moroso.

There will be however a two day event with PBOC the first weekend of November in Daytona. www.pbocflorida.com for those interested you have to register NOW ! This event is already or just about booked out! Those interested...a Scuderia will be in attendance rippen up the track.

Picture of yours truely in a CHRA race. Backbowl. It is so steep that you can take the hands off the wheel but in reality you are leaving brown spots in your pants and gripping the wheel so hard that there is that chance you are ripping it off the column. :)

    Turkey rod run.

    I'm a vendor there.

Last year my booth was next to a Charity giveaway with a Toyota Tundra. 20 rednecks a day would rant on how a Toyota shouldn't be allowed inside the Speedway where Dale Earnhardt died.. dar dar dar he haw guck guck guck blah blah blah.

It's no place for a Ferrari IMO.

How can you say that? That track has had the Rolex 24 for how many decades now? Just because it's biggest claim to fame is a Nascar race doesn't dilute the fact that it is a great track IMO.

I think Stuart's point is that a Ferrari at the Turkey Rod Run is definitely a fish out of water - there's no racing or track rime during the rod run, it's a show and swap-meet (and a good one at that), but I can attest that as a regular attendee over a number of years that the swap-meet can be a "cultural experience". :D

Racing wise, yeah the Ferrari's right at home on the road course, which is a treat to experience behind the wheel.

What if, the owner of Daytona was a Ferrari owner and wanted to have an event there? Stranger things have happened. Stay tuned!!!

:) now that would be an interesting thing. The questions is which dealer would underwrite the event. It is a Orlando area but the November event is traditionally a Shelton (now FoFtL) event. SO right there may be a problem.

Again, I do not think that Daytona's high banking and bus stop and turn 1 is a wise track for once-a-year-track Ferraristi. The potential for major damage is there. I have lost it in the bus stop and it took two washes to get the yellow stains of my suit. You hit that thing at 150-160Mph and have to slow down to 70. Lockup means...wherever the car goes....you go. I flatspottet a new set of Yokos in that race, first lap...all the way to the cord. Nice! :D

I would love to go to Daytona personally. Matter of fact I am going for PBOC for sure and may do a SCCA race there in August. Absolutely love the track.

If you want to see the planned dates for Daytona go to [email protected]. The event is put on by the promoters of the La Bella Macchina which just concluded this past weekend.

Type in the word "at" instead of the "@"
There's a single page flyer type pic for Daytona -- says Road Course and concours.

    cool.

Not sure how they will pull that off to run that with FCA but hey, if they do..EXCELLENT !

Then...I was actually looking forward to the new Moroso.

oh nutz....just checked my calendar...that is also the first 2009 SARRC Race in Moroso. Sorry...no going for me. Have to run the SARRC series next year for the Championship. Completely messed up this year though still 15th in points standing.

We have been working together with FCA for 23 years at Pocono. The track portion of the event is run by FCA's National Track Chairman Bob Coates. We have 4 Ferrari and 7 Maserati dealers involved in the event. A number of those dealers also have dealerships in Florida. Additionally 10 Lamborghini dealers along with the factory are involved at Pocono.

We will be releasing more details on our event at Daytona (Le Belle Macchine d'Italia - Sud Nov 13 -16) in the coming weeks.

Here are some videos shot at Pocono over the years along with one recently posted from this year.
