WOW you guys had an amazing turnout huh? I wish we had the market like Canada. F cars are scattered around the US and there is no area that is "saturated" lol Great Job Antony
AHHHHHHHHH Crescent St. America doesn't know what a treasure Montreal really is. Why am I not living there UGHHHHH!!!!!
Thanks Bernie for the pics! 4th picture: 400i ! I'v never seen that car in Quebec. So what kind of Ferrari showed up? 360, 355, 550, 328, 348, 308, 400i, Testarossa?? What else? Did you bring your car? And what about Tony?
Ummm the event at Laval was pretty good i was there with my father... it was an ok turn out we werent expecting more then 20 -25 members to show up because the previous week they had another fund raiser at the st-jean sur le richelieu were they raised 25 000$....... oh and the ones who were there and said there was no reving??? then u must need a hearing aid because i have it all on film and i hear lot of reving.. people who respect their car and worked hard to get a ferrari dont need to burn their transmissions and scrub 30% of their tires on the flooor to have fun and show off... the point of the event was to make childreens dream come true and show them a good time.. and that is exactly wut they did... dont go bad mouthin the event because there was only 22 ferraris. the event happened and thats it... Oh and the Peel thing is an exclusive thing to Luigi's Ferrari club (it is advertised as the luigi ferrari club parade on peel), 95% of the cars there are all members/friends of luigis club even the 360's... which were all bought at FOQ (no other place to buy them).. sometimes you get a couple of other car that join because they ask or the security lets them in (absolutly nothign wrong with that, the more the merryer)... Now back to the membership fee.. the membership fee is well worth what you get in return (including luigi's services).... i dont want to go in details on the reasons for the membership as it isnt my biz....and remember a ferrari in quebec with the word luigi associated with it has a greater value then a normal ferrari and that is a fact and not a rummor.... About the garage on HB... it is a beautifull garage extremely clean and well maintained....he did a great job with it. Hes not there for the money hes there to live his life (pass his time) and devotion for ferrari. About luigi silver testa (too bad its silver).. that car is a diamond... who ever will get that car one day (if he really does want to sell it) will be getting a used ferrari like no other in this world.. that thing is in imaculate condition like new.. oh by the way that price he gave u was just to scare u away so u dont buy it... cuz he dont want you to.. but if u were the right person (caugh) the price would be right.. hes not goin to sell that car just to anyone because its his pride and joy... its his babby... Oh by the way Luigis ferrari club isnt worried about anything or anyone overshadowing them... the club is there because he is there... and the members are loyal to him and his services... (there are lots of hatters and jelous people out there who wish they could be part of such a family) Oh and i was wondering what this means "Originally Posted by bernardo66 Oh yeah!! It's around 45, depending on Luigi's mood!! LOL!!! I'll be very surprised if more than 25 show up. Why? Two words: G-A-R-A-G-E Q-U-E-E-N!!!" i dont know maybe i am to young to understand what it means can anyone clarify this for me? would be nice... Anyways i am not here to offend anyone just sending out my opinion... cya Anthony
My pleasure! Too bad you weren't there. Very nice event, and many of the drivers were quite pleasant and friendly. Again, congratulations to FoQ, the Qc chapter of FCA and Domenic Durante (who in passing, is a fellow 1983 St-Pius X alumni). Believe me my friend, there are a lot of wonderful automotive treasures hidden away in the garages of Montreal, and it's a pity that they don't come out more often. Yes to all of the above as well as a couple of Mondials, a Dino 246GTS...and of course Tony's 512TR...don't call it a Testarossa in front of him LOL!!!! We both were there and as usual, he's the only 512TR...and I'm the only 308GTS in attendance. Here's proof, and BTW, regardless of the expression of my passenger, he had a good ride.LOL!!!!!! Anthony, Don't worry, no one is taking offense on your opinions, I think the only one that is offended by others opinions, maybe is yourself. I could only speak for myself in saying that in my previous post I was not bad mouthing the event or the club, but merely commenting on the event. It was largely publicized in the local papers as 60 Ferraris participating and 10000-15000 spectators expected. Spectators attending is one thing, it's really in nobody's control, but when you advertise 60 Ferraris on display and only 20 or so show up,well then that's something else. As for scrubing tires on the floor, no one expects that, but let's here some engine noise. If you say that you have it on video, let's see it. I was there, and for the exception of the 355 smoking his clutch (not his tires) and the 328's little burnout which I must say the crowd got a kick from it, that was it. When the F-Cars arrived on site, you would have not even noticed them if it wasn't for the security guards lining up to form a human blockade. People want to see these up close, not from a distance. They are not F1 cars nor are the driver/owners Michael S. Membership, let's not even go there. It's B.S.,this club not open for just anyone, like all other car clubs. Unless, you know someone that knows someone that knows some......."you get the picture" it is closed to the public. Therefore this is not a true club for Ferrari owners and enthuiasts but for the chosen ones, whoever they may be and that's fine, but then they should remove their membership application form from their website About a car being associated and serviced by Luigi carries more value, that's crap. This is a myth that they would like you to believe. The car's value is determined by doumentation, records, scheduled services, canadian car, owners, etc......and of course overall condition. They are alot of F-Cars to choose from, therefore whether it is a Luigi, a FoQ, etc it is irrelevant. The best of the lot will fetch the highest $$$$ As for GARAGE QUEEN, it is the opposite of ROAD KING. Anthony, I know you have close ties to this club, in the past you have expressed yourself by the defending it. I am sure that no one here is bad mouthing the club, after all this is a chat forum and we are just chatting but in regards to your comment about the club not worrying about being overshadowed by others, my response to that is, maybe they should, and the club should consider taking a closer look at other clubs and their events in order to keep this one going. A club will continue to survive as long as it's membership is strong and active and in order for this to be accomplished the Luigi Club needs to revise their new membership policies and criteria. Who knows, maybe a young guy like yourself can have a positive input with the older members.
Tony, thank you for answering. I've been pondering as to weither to respond to his post or not. Your response was both eloquently put and exactly what I've been contemplating. D.J: I would also like to add, if Luigi quoted me a ridicoulous price for the silver Testarossa, I can assure it was not to scare me off. He clearly knows that I'm not in the market for, (nor have the neccessary means to afford) such a car. As for justification of the 300$ membership fees, I still think it's ridicoulous!!! I've been on the board of directors of the VEA (Vintage European Auto) for the last seven years, and have been the treasurer and membership director for the last 3 years. Our annual fees...... a very modest 45$. And what do you get with that? A website that is constantly updated, a full-colour magazine published every 3 months, the members get together on a monthly basis, and we also organize monthly outings; and I'm not talking about parking your car on a crowded avenue and looking pretty. I'm talking about hill climbs, Navex-type road rallyes (sometimes lasting 2 days), discovering the backroads of our province and visits to historical sites in the Quebec country side.... And all of this on a budget comparable to Luigi's club. Now that is value for your money!!!! I'm well aware that part of the 300$ goes towards Luigi's operating expenses and that also includes some free-bees concerning servicing. But what happens when Luigi is not there anymore? When the very essence of the club's existence is no more. Lastly, (and you should take this as constructive criticism) I would invite you to spruce up your written english and correct your syntax, punctuation and spelling. It adds credibility to your posts and makes them that much more pleasant to read.
Opps excuse my spelling/gramm/synt... i forgot i was writing to and older croud... i am sorry i will do my best next time.
Ahhh no problems I wasn't offended in any way I was just stating my opinion in relation to what I understood of what you said from your post. I guess I didn't read it carefully enough. Ummm the advertisement wasn't done by Luigi's Ferrari club but by the RC organizing people if I am not mistaken (which I don't really know anything about to be frank) As for the noise and etc and accessibility to the cars that was fair by all means it wasn't a huge thing but people were aloud to look at the cars and ask questions to whom ever driver was present. I am not sure but I think the amount of guards/fireman present was maybe due to the fact that the RC organizers were expecting 1000's of people. Which wasnt the case? All in all the point of the event was to give a child a chance to make a dream come true and I think I saw all the kids happy. For me the most important thing was to see a smile on a Childs face when he got his ride and a chace to make a dream come true! Now back to that famous membership, I guess I should agree partially with what you have said... some are lucky and some aren't (I see new people all the time). About the fee I think all in all it worth it because (my personal opinion) only club members will get their car serviced by luigi and he will hardly charge you a penny for it (to this day I still don't understand his business methods...). About the cars being associated with Luigi I didn't mean it carried more value (excuse me if I lead you into thinking this) but the credibility behind the cars history has a plus (not to put anyone down). There are lots of honest people out there but business is business and not all of us think like luigi. To be honest with you I dont think there is a soul out there who can...( i.e. my odo broke at 10' k's and now the car has 20' k's... oh let sell it as a 20' k car and make some extra money) <--- thats just an example doesn't mean anything. Oh thanks for that explanation made it somewhat clearer to me... About the future of the club.. hey your right and wrong... maybe I can Ill bring it up with some people next time I go... "Luigi Club needs to revise their new membership policies and criteria" I wouldn't know anything about this sorry....I'm just the son of a member. But you've sparked me with an interest, Ill look into this next time I see the president of the club. I hope that everyone will appreciate the effort I put into making sure my syntax/grammar and spelling were correct. Oh and now I have questions of my own: 1- If I wanted to be part of the Ferrari club Quebec how would I do this do I go directly to the FOQ place on Sorel or is there a website I have to register from? 2- I am not a Ferrari owner, son of an owner can I still be a member? I hope no one thinks I am only a pro Luigi Ferrari club member, because you got me wrong my life is Ferrari I live for Ferrari. Ever since I was a little kid Ive been a Ferrari fan.
DJ, I will be more than glad to answer your questions. 1) Just so your are clear. It is not the ferrari club of quebec. It is The Ferrari Club of America (Eastern Canada) Quebec Chapter. You can go directly on the website and subscribe for membership on-line or PM me and I will give you more details on who you can contact here in Montreal. 2) No, you don't need to own a Ferrari, as a matter of fact about 30% of members do not own F-Cars. You can belong to other car clubs and still be a respected member. BTW don't tell anyone, but there are a couple of Luigi members that are also members of Ferrari Club of America, but I promised them that I would never tell on them.....LOL BTW, since I have sparked your interest, next time you speak with your club president, ask him to return his calls.....LOL.. Just bustin' balls. Be Good!!
When I wrote Testarossa I wasn`t referring at Tony`s 512 TR, I was talking about that red Testarossa in one of your pics. Sorry for the misunderstood. Indeed your passenger looked like he was having a good time.
