Mostly post 80's stuff. Nothing along the lines of 50's, 60's & 70's vintage. Maybe he kept those in a batcave...within the batcave.

    Cool pics - thanks.

All these years later and I still love those M6s.

Just noticed...is there something special about the turbo Buick in front of the yellow TR? Doesn't look like a GNX or Gran National (unless I'm wrong in thinking those only came in black).

Between John and you, your enthusiasm warms me up.

I can't recall how many times I would purposely drive by Scotti's (when he had the exotics on Jarry & Provencher), or Cristofaro's, or FoQ after hours and whimper at all the cars in the showroom and garage. Or how many afternoons I would spend sipping espresso's with Luigi Della Grotta, listening to all his Enzo Ferrari anecdotes ... surrounded by all those cars. Or even...driving by Luigi's after hours (before I knew him) to try and get a glimpse of the cars through the tinted windows. Or spending thousands of dollars to attend the Cavallino Classic in 1996.

For some reason, all of that came to pass, the day I bought my 308. You could say that the Ferrari world was de-mystified at that point for me. It doesn't mean that I won't take notice when I see one. It simply means that I've taken my appreciation for these cars to another level.

Gran National's come in a large variaty of colors. Not sure about the GNX though.

Bernie, Me and John just like to make the forum a great place to be, make it a bit more fun :).
I keep hearing about this Luigi guy, Not sure if it's a person or a Club(because ive heard both). Havent been in montreal very long, so i dont know everyone around here. Would you care to explain who or what Luigi's is? Im probally the only person here who doesnt know :(

And for that I salute your vigour
Allow me to give you (pulling up chair) a course in Luigi 101...

    - Authorized Ferrari dealer for Quebec and Eastern Canada from (approx) 1963 to 1998.
    - Had to go to Maranello 3 times before Enzo would meet with him to grant him the dealership.
    - Sold roughly 300 (according to him) new Ferraris during his tenure.
    - Showroom and garage cleaner than some hospitals.
    - A real character. Like most Ferrari's, he was known for his temperment. If you caught him on a good day, he would roll out the red carpet for you. On a bad day, you're dog meat!!!
    - Was selective with who he sold Ferrari's to, as a result, he created many allies as well as foes.
    - For the longest time, he only serviced cars that HE sold, he's since changed that policy but is still somewhat selective with his customers.
    - The reason why he lost the dealership has been debated and is now somewhat of an urban legend in the Ferrari circles in Montreal...and I don't wish to open that debate on this forum.
    - Presently runs an independant Ferrari garage (with no affiliation to FNA)
    - The Ferrari club which he founded bears his name "Ferrari-Luigi-Club" and has no affiliation to the FCA.
    - His customers (as well as his club) is still a pretty closed circle.

That pretty much sums it up, as far as an un-bias resumé of Luigi goes. I can assure you that there isn't a shortage of anecdotes. Anyone that's been involved with Ferrari's in Montreal has his/her Luigi story.

And since I really hate long posts, I'll save mine for when, one day we meet...

I'll be sad the day he goes.... I'm reminded of him every time I see my father (same age and history), and I come to realize (and accept) that nothing is forever.

    Wishful thinking my friend.

However, look on the bright side: "Nulla si crea, nulla si distrugge, tutto si trasforma."

Translation: I'm sure that when the inevitable happens, someone may take his place, as far as servicing is concerned. Maybe Ralph? Maybe Nicola might give a hand. Who knows. Although I'm not that intimate with the circle, I just don't see the shop closing up (secco, secco) and leaving all the clientele high & dry.

    Just a few thoughts....
