This is not the real world. Tony Swan, the driver of the GT-R, is *ahem* not even of average talent.

But with launch control, awd , i thought one didn't need any talent to drive the gtr.....actually this is very much the real world, take away the deep pockets of the manufacturers, take away the bias of the magazines/media and just put the cars in the hands of tuners and their drivers

That ACR is a beast, its not stock either and Im pretty sure its running on PS2's which is really crazy. The car is nothing short of a monster with the little mods it has.

The only mod the acr has are headers/exhaust... the stock acr tires were not allowed under the rules....

Tony Swan has been drooling over the gtr for months with articles like "the grtr has finally arrived" and claiming that it will give the porsche and vette something to think about and the moronic US public sucks it up like their third stack of pancakes at IHOP....well based on the performance at one lap of america hopefully he will keep his bias out of his magazine

    "Secret" revealed:

    http://www.worldcarfans.com/9080507.004/secrets-for-gt-r-record-ring-run-revealed

Last week Nissan announced the GT-R lapped the Nurburgring in an astounding 7 minues 29 seconds knocking a full 9 seconds of its previous record. We were led to believe the GT-R used was completely unmodified, but even though the GT-R has already been launched over in Japan, the engineers are still working on upgrades for its launch in Europe and the States.

Chief vehicle engineer Kazutoshi Mizuno said that the US bound GT-R will get a few tweaks including three harder engine mounts and a stiffer transaxle mount resulting in an even finer tuned suspension and powertrain. These details are certainly areas which helped the GT-R achieve a time of 7min 29 sec on the Ring.

The European version will be enhanced further with a slightly revised steering system and recalibrated rear differential although the GT-R team make a decision on this in September. But why enhance the GT-R further when it is already proved itself among the worlds top supercars? 'The GT-R is my son,' Mizuno explained. 'A son grows up and it's my duty as father to keep improving it.'

I thought it "Whooped" "Porsche"? So it can {as far as we know} finish above {a} Porsche or {a} Vette. Hummm That's a long way from "Owning Porsche".

overall 6th, in stock form, out of the scores of other cars, many of which are not stock and much lighter ...is raped? Look at the many Corvettes it's beating, and Vipers and 911s. Raped would be if the R35 were 47th or 78th. But the GT-R has climbed in ranking in the top 10. It's actually doing well considering it's the first outing and attempt; top ten is difficult to maintain. Where is the F-car representing?

The track-purpose-built V Spec will more than likely be in the top 5 next year, if not at or near the very top.

The Nissan GTR is still above the Ultima GTR? That's weird. I guess it all depends on the driver

Um, top 5, maybe 10 is what matters when talking about a race.

That's like saying who came in 10th during last weeks F1 race....

I heard that the Viper was forced to use PS2 instead of PSC, aparently its tires gave it way too much of an advantage. Eitherway its slaughtering the Nissan GTR with 9 out of 9 road course wins.

It also appears that a Honda Odyssey and a Dodge Neon are ahead of numerous Vettes, BMW's, Porsches, and a couple CTS-V's in that one lap of america "race."

This thing is clearly all about vehicle ability and performance.

    :D

These guys are grasping at straws here. You simply can't bring down the almighty GTR. Just admit it. That's right.

    +1 LOL.

This thread is becoming sad. I just love how a few pages back we are arguing about the weight of a track time on the N'ring, and now we are arguing about a few PRIVATELY RUN, modified, race cars in a random road race. Please.

I'd say that it's the haters that are the loudest. If a Ferrari managed that time... their would be no end to backslapping. High end car buyers simply resent being tacken for fools by the high end manufacturers and pretend that the Emperor has a nice set of invisible clothes. GTR instantly makes 95% of sports/exotics/sport cars look 2 times overpriced.
