It's got the loose-fitting 430 camo, but it's the real thing - F142. Exposed bodywork behind the front wheel and door mounted mirror clinch it.
Now THOSE are spyshots. Underneath all that 430-esque plastic cladding is a real 450, complete with body. Anyone want to speculate on those three -- count 'em three -- exhaust outlets? Also, I think those intakes are there because the actual ones in the c-pillar are covered or compromised. That or they'll be "active". Or perhaps they'll feed the fans for the active aero systems?
F40 throwback if I ever saw one. Too bad the mechanicals can't be simplified like the old girl...sigh.
If you look closely, you can see that the rear bumper is still from an F430. You can see where the old exhaust outlets used to be. So, the look we are seeing is not final under the camo. I suspect it will be more radical. It's getting close though.
To be honest, it just looks like a regular F430 with different exhaust and tail lights and some body covering... I can't make out whats different about the body... Good to see new pictures though! _J
Shape is the word I was looking for. Isn't it past your bed time? I hope this thing is what were hoping it will be... Imagine what it's track-honed version will be like? I feel like a school girl! Well... I mean.... _J
Those latest spy shots certainly show that we're getting closer to seeing the real thing. I wonder if they'll have a pre launch website like they did for the Cali .. with snipets "leaked" every few days to raise the excitement. Hopefully it wont be as big a disapointment for me as the Cali was (ok it's just a personal opinion).
+1 the exposed bodywork directly below the door handle also confirms it, look at the black car coming off the truck and compare the horizontal crease line, same IMO, three exhaust pipes same as Czechferrari photos - absolutely the F142.
Three Exhaust pipes could be an indicator of the turbo engine: one pipe for each bank and the third one for the wastegate (yes, like the F40).
The design looks absolutely gorgeous so far. I'm not sure what I think of the three exhaust tips but I'm sure Ferrari will make it work. Realistically, what are the chances of a Twin Turbo V8 in this Ferrari? Link?
Note the wheels.Same as those from Scuderia 16m.As the 430 could be ordered with 360 cs wheels....450 might as well use those. And something else. The car is smaller, but the interior room stays the same, it will be interesting to see how they will play with proportions(hard to mask/integrate that big space where the occupants will be ).It's kind of little enzo, and something similar to Lotus Evora.
Yeah I noticed that too - a couple of members here requested the 5 spoke wheels for their 16M but they were not available. Ferrari always use wheels from other current models when testing new cars so I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
Well, I guess it could be possible in the way that the California's Duel Clutch is most likely a test bed for the 430 successor's clutch. If this car did get a twin turbo V8, it could be how Ferrari test how their turbos work in the real world. This and the challenge series would be some amazing R&D. But would Ferrari risk the failure of these turbos in a car so key as the 430 replacement? _J
I think that's just part of the camo. Look at the mirrors, that's definitely the new doors and mirrors. I think the whole new body is underneath the camo. 3 tailpipes..? Looks like a turbo car to me.
Agree. If anyone from Malibu is here, they'll tell you about all the cars testing there -- They're always using the real body panels covered in either fabric or a plastic panel molding of the old model. I think the latter is the case here. And the turbo sure seems more likely now: The wastegate theory is a good one. Unrelated, but I just caught this 2011 Mustang powertrain mule Monday (presumably testing Ford's new direct injected "Coyote" V8). The hood & valance are different from the '10 so they covered it with fabric & clips... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Because of the cost of the turbo's, it may be an option. It's hard to tell at this point but I do like the F40 throw back.
