Ola Boxer! Hope all is well. Very nice write up indeed. I miss watching those crazy coastal F50/40 videos!
Would it not be safe to say that the GTO has more of a cult status than does the F50? Not that it matters...but it seems that the F50 is still earning it's place in popular Ferrari lore, whereas the GTO is the smug, silent King of them all...being the first and rarest. Like this: GTO: The King. First, oldest, rarest, and bestest all rounder. F40: The Prince. Because princes have all the fun.. F50: The King's bodyguard for the prince. Viggo Mortensen's attitude in Eastern Promises combined with Clint Eastwood's authenticity. The insider that will kick your ass in the worst possible way for the best possible reasons. Enzo: The King's Sister's Nephew, a Duke, that has more money than the King, but, well, just isn't the King. Sorry.
I have gotten a few requests for the original article. If anyone wants it, just PM me your email address and I would be happy to send it to you.
Well said good sir! GTO: The Original Jedi Master, the first of it's kind, the grand master who laid the foundation for others to follow. Yoda. F40: The Chosen One, blessed by the father himself, all fall under his shadow. The mere mention of his name is an event, it is hallowed and sacred. The One. F50: The Last Samurai, devoted follower of the old code, the last of his kind. Protector of original teachings, much like The Operative from Serenity (you all who saw it know what I'm talking about). He may be "technologically outdated," but he's still 1000% lethal. Every time. Enzo: The new style, the dawn of a new generation. Much like the T-1000 (gotta love Terminator), technologically superior, sleek, clean, and efficient. However, in the grand scheme, winds up second to his predecessor.
Digging up an old post going through this thread, but is there any way of getting a hold of those issues? I've got a subscription to FML but it only goes back to Volume 26 in 2001.
Hey guys I'm sorry to bump an old thread but I had a question about this car. It's my favorite super car ever. I was curious to know. Does anyone have photos of a red F50 with black headlight buckets? I always thought that would look pretty cool but I've never seen any variants like that. Seems like it would pay some homage to the F40 that way. Just curious if anyone had any pictures.
My "new" F50 days away from arriving home for the first time. I'm biased but the more I've dived into the car and its engineering, the more besotted I've become. Also IMO its looks are transformed when it has its hard top in place. Mine will be delivered hard top on. Can't wait to go for a very long drive Image Unavailable, Please Login
Unlike the F40, the F50 doesn't appear to come with a locking fuel filler cap. Is anyone aware whether a locking cap is/was available? Slightly concerned about leaving it out without one.
50cm x 50 cm production build book that came with the F50. Any idea what price might be reasonable to re-unite a book with its car? It's a sentimental purchase if it's anything but struggling to find a half sensible price point. Thoughts? Thanks.
A few years ago, I was asked 4500 for the book plus a very tatty pair of the shoes. I walked away from both (and the car).
I've secured a deal to re-unite my car with its construction book . So happy to bring them back together after nearly 20 years. Here's some pics of the book: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
And a few more. Can't wait to bring the book home. I adore this car, its history and its heritage. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
