had the usual problems with these melting on my 348ts, no doubt like everyone else. as you all know new ones from ferrari cost stupid amounts (i was quoted $1100 US dollars for my set), but i had a friend look at them and he has used a process he invented to fix them. came up like new and at bugger all cost relative to the new price. they look great, and no more melting. i asked him what he did, but he laughed it off as trade secret and that was the end of it. he did me such a favour and saved me so much money i didnt press the issue any further with him. however, it seems that so many of us suffer from this problem, that i thought i would pose a question. he is based here in new zealand, which i mention becuase you would have to get your vents to new zealand, however for those of you based in america or europe the currency rate is way in your favour so i wouldnt think it costs much at all. plus there are light as hell anyway, so worldwide courier shouldnt be expensive. anyway, he can do a full set for about $400 new zealand, which at the moment is about $260 US dollars, plus the postage/courier. would anyone be interested in this service if i ran it past him? saves buying them new is all.

All you do is clean them with simple green, WD-40 , any type of cleaner really and paint them flat black of they end up scratched. Not really worth $400.00 IMO

I read an article somewhere here in the archives that uses spray-on oven cleaner to remove the sticky melted mess. You then apply rubberized paint (I got mine at Home Depot) and whammo! a better than factory finish that looks and feels like stock. I used black Plasti Dip rubberized spray http://www.plastidip.com/consumer/index.html, but in the past I have removed the old gunk with acetone (makes the big mess). You can do it in an afternoon and amaze your friends.
