I heard a rumor that a private, members only race track similar to Monticello is being considered in NH. Has anyone heard anything about this and know any details? It would be great to have a place nearby for us to drive our F Cars. Monticello is great just a bit too far for us in Mass.

You are thinking about the Club Motorsports Valley Motorsports club for a track planned in Tamworth, NH.

This has been trying to get approved for close to 10 years now and the early members/investors have not been able to turn a wheel on the track.

Based on the fact that recent news from a google search is sparse and even the club website hasn't been updated in well over a year, it isn't looking too promising.

I attended a presentation made by the developer at a VSCCA event in around 2002 soliciting memberships and the status and details of their approvals and financing plans were vague, to say the least.

Thanks for the link, I checked it out. Also went to Google and YouTube, there was quite a bit of info and video showing construction right through 2010 but then the details go cold. I have a brother in law that lives up there that I'm going to reach out to and see if he can find any info for us. I'll get back to you ASAP. Thanks

Here's an update on the track being built in NH. The president of the track being constructed in NH responded to an email I sent to him and told me they are 18 months or so from completion. They are reviewing proposals from contractors to finish the job and hope to be driving the course in 2014. This is great news!

That's great news but you should be aware that the track has been 18 months from completion for the last 10 years.

Are they fully permitted to construct and operate the facility and has all local opposition been shut down in the courts on a final, non-appealable basis?

And, of course, do they have enough money to complete the track?

You both raise great questions. I was assured by Jim that everything was in place and they were ready to go just needed to align the constructions crews. I guess we will see? I was told a more formal update will be on their website within the next couple of weeks.

For the sake of the long suffering members who bought in years ago, I hope that it happens.

Google maps says that it is about 2 1/2 hours. Tamworth is up there a ways, just south of Conway.

Personally, I think that it is a tough location for its intended market because Boston is the closest big city.

Sorry for the silly question, when they say "members only" does that mean no spectators?

Not sure about the spectator rules but I would think they might want spectators to spread the word of the track when it does open. Let's hope it actually gets built as they have promised!

that's too far. might as well go to Lime Rock. it would be great if there were a track within an hour of Boston.

I haven't heard about a track for Palmer. Latest talk has been for a casino in the Palmer area. Either Palmer of NH I don't care I just want a place to drive my FCar.

It was many years ago and I don't think it ever went farther than the talking stage. Ironically, it was about the same time of talking as the NH track.

My sister in law lives in Conway NH. I asked her to look into this track being built. She did some research (her hubby is a judge in the area) and just informed me today that it has all the approvals and is expected to be completed in a year or so. But nothing is holding it back now. Good news!
