I'm sure global figures of indy500 must've been WAY up. Monaco race I'm sure as well but was deeply disappointing one.

These figures are wildly inaccurate. A significant proportion of viewers watch on other sources like YouTube. The real figures will be much higher than quoted.

Can you watch a 2-hour race LIVE on YouTube?

    How?

I didn't watch a single lap of Charlotte, even though I intended to. I just knew that after Monaco and Indy it would be either a snooze fest or contrived "excitement."

The year to year numbers are probably inaccurate given the various ways people can watch TV programming change that rapidly. The interesting part is comparing events on the same day, which you can still do using their methods (it's assumed a similar percent will watch the races the same way on the same day). I'm surprised the NASCAR race did more than Indy for US markets. I watched the Monaco and Indy races, but didn't watch Nascar as I didn't see any ads for the time or channel.

Edit: I read the #s wrong. Indy did better. That's what I would've guessed and am glad it has beaten them 3 years in a row.

Yes. I did just that. I just searched for "Indy 500 live", and up popped the link to the live stream. Nothing illegal - totally legitimate. You can even mirror it direct to your tv if you want it on a bigger screen. It worked great!

Racing has always had a particular viewers, fans to tune in every week, and follow their particular brand of racing. Ratings can be manipulated at certain viewing times with lead in programming, for example if and Indy car race happened to follow and NBA game, a lot of those viewers who tuned in for basket ball will probably still be tuned into that channel when the Indy car race begins... in the US, F1 races are not usually live in prime viewing times, with little to no lead in programing, fans have to make a point to tune in to the race, and with that rating it shows that the fan base is actually growing. While NASCAR seems to be declining, many of the star drivers are starting to retire, I wonder where the where the racing sports will rank in the next few years.
