Armen, good for you for organizing this, and many thanks for your continued efforts in the community.

I first met Akbar 21 years ago at Alan Ladd's Ranch in Thousand Oaks and I remember his red/black LP500S as being one of the most pristine Countach I ever saw. What I mean was here was an eight-year-old Countach that essentially looked brand new. Just looking at the sills & seat bolsters of the car told me that this was a man who appreciated these works of art, and most importantly, knew how to look after them!! (not something you often see with people who manage to get hold of these cars).

We remained Lamborghini friends and I remember showing him my first yellow Countach LP400 1120192 Periscopa, about 10 years later. What struck me was the fact that he seemed even more joyful about the car having landed in my hands than I was. A real man of character, without the typical envy that we often see amongst people affiliated with the Lamborghini marque.......

But, my enduring memory of him would have to be 10 years ago on a country road somewhere near Santa Barbara. I was 'flying' in my lime green Miura SV 5064 with my son at my side. I glance in the mirror and see a grey missile gaining on me flying even faster. A second later he whooshed past in the Diablo, flames spouting out the exhaust. My son and I had the biggest smiles on our faces all the way back to base that night.

    Addio Akbar...

When I was at Akbar's funeral on Tuesday I asked his family why he choose the hilltop location and they answered because he wants to see the cars on the 134 freeway passing. He really loved cars!
