Has anyone ever taken off their shifter boot and had a gate cover made for the console. Not sure if this would even work but I know I love the classic italian look of the shift gate and I may play with.

What is up with the lever on the right side of this steering colum. Is this car missing sime kind of cover trim around the collum? It looks to be a unfinished.

    Thanks.

Is there a trim piece for around this door release; or is this just a questionable door panel recover. If it is needing a trim piece any suggestions on where to get them.

    Wayne,
As far as the steering column goes, there should be a leather flap over the top of the column attached to the dash.

This is my opinion of a perfect Merak SS interoir. Looks like if I buy the blue SS I will have some detail and restoration work to do to get mine to look like this.

Love that interior. It is really stunning and as delicately balances as the rest of the Merak design. It is like fine jewelry really. I would own another Merak SS, but the lack of any 100% correct wiring schematic makes me crazy.

Does anyone have a spare center console ashtray or just the slider part in black? I have a brown one from a BiTurbo that I could try to die/paint, but I bet in using it the paint will scrape off. That tan interior is mighty sweet looking!

Another option is to either sand or sand blst the old paint and then drop it off at a Powder Coating co. (phone book probably) the powder coating is very resistant to scratches. I would guess this would cost around $35.

It's a plastic part, there is no paint! I have used "plastic" paint in the past and it works OK. This part by design is subject to some abrasion---guess I'll just paint it and see what happens. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I do believe powder coating might destroy it. Yikes!

    Doug,
You are correct. I remember seeing those ash tray lids for sale at MIE. I think paint for interior vinyl panels would work very nicely. I have heard that Teflon paint is also very durable, and it too comes in a can. Lastly, you could always try catalyzed paint.

    Ciao,
    George
