    OK just when I think I'm all decided to buy a Merak SS you guys start showing me that I can buy a 02-03 Spyder for the same 25K area. What I want is the opinions of why you would buy the older classic versus the newer GT Convertable. I am country road conasouir and club event, TSD road rallies and light mechanic but better detailer. This is how I use my toy. I also want to take it on 400-500 mile road trips once or twice a year. Preservation of my money is a concern as well cost of repairs or cost of overall ownership. Questions I have also is the cost of minor repairs. Clutch, brakes, basic tune up.

    The Merak SS is a gorgeous design. The SS is reliable from what I have known as long as you watch for rust or lack thereof
    If confort and driving is more your thing I guess the spyder is good. I dont know that car. If I had the choice, I would take back my Merak

    The Merak is considerably older, so if you were to buy one you should buy as best an example as possible with maintenance history. As far as which to buy...Merak SS all the way. Classic lines, beautiful car!!
