hey all, so I went to take my 308 out today, and thus pushed the car out of the garage, started it, and let it sit to let the oil warm up. when i came back about 6-8 minutes later, I smelled fuel very faintly. turns out I had a small puddle of fuel underneath the passenger side fuel tank. the car has not leaked when not running. i felt around the top of the tank, at the nipples, and it all seemed dry. the underside of the tank itself was wet with fuel. it's of course not easy to get your hand in there, but I felt around as much as i could, and all i can feel is fuel at the bottom of the tank. it stopped once i turned the car off. any theories here? the motor was very recently rebuilt, I just got the car back a few months ago. the tanks were cleaned and coated, and all the fuel lines are brand new. i'm a bit stumped. 1978 carb US spec GTS. any tips as to how I chase this down, or should I just send it back to the shop that did the work? i have driven the car several times since getting it back, and never experienced this. thanks for any help.

Examine the fuel return line going from the #8 carb inlet to the RH fuel tank. If the RH fuel tank is leaking, it should leak whether the engine is running, or not. However, fuel flows in that return line only when the engine (i.e., fuel pump) is running.

If that's a recent repair, I would take it back to the shop. They know what they touched, and where and what to look for and anything they've done should be warranted.

My guess would be the banjo fitting at the fuel pump/accumulator that has come loose if work was recently done.
It’s a hard line that twists if not tightened properly and tends to work loose.
