There are some wonderful cars featured at next weeks RM Auction in Maranello including SWB and LWB California Spiders, a Competizione Lusso and a 275GTB/4. The estimates on their website, in Euros, indicates that they have confidence that the market for these types of cars is a strong as ever. I'm looking forward to being there as this has become a benchmark event for setting the market for classic Ferraris from year to year.

In a probably-realted note, Tuesday's art sale at Christie's went reasonably well. Most of the buyers were European with fewer Americans than usual.

    Good luck,
I had the intention to go, but can't find the time, had to skip this year.
Would love to have seen the ecurie F collection for the last time, I might have put in a bid for a couple of smaller items....
mr. Swaters had unique items in his possession.

After a quick review it seems that most, if not all, (except the Pinin) have classiche certification. Was this a condition of acceptance?
The actual wording is that it comes with a Classiche package. Same as certification?

Ferrari 246S Dino Sport has been withdrawn from the Auction by RM.
Authenticity problems some said. Nothing official, but I doubt it. It has been classiche certified or not ?

EDIT : / Fake/replica engine with fake ID plate... (what is said).

#778? Really? I read a great article about it in a car magazine some days ago (current issue of "Oldtimer Markt" for those interested). They mentioned it was over-restored by DK, but no authenticity issues...

As this auction is the benchmark for the current and near future vintage Ferrari market any gossip, news, predictions and results are more than welcome. There are quite some very interesting cars and I am interested in the way they are presented, the actual condition/remarks and of course the sale results.

    Ciao

Why would some one buy a 250 LM on an auction when everybody knows this is the GTC Jean Guikas car? You pay some 15% more, GTC receives 10% less....If you are in the market for such a car and you did your homework, this seems strange......I saw that car some time ago, with a lot of frenchtastic overdone phrases.....At that time the price was considerably less, but so was everything. Ferrari floors get too hot?
    Ciao

The Dino is having some "Classiche " issues. It's been quite a circus here with Classiche doing their best to ruin the sale while the Ferrari bosses who created this monster gnash their teeth at the lost revenue of having a car withdrawn by their own Theology doctrine department. Not even the Vatican is ever this bad about dogma.

Is it my imagination or are they reverting to the chaos of the old days? First Sig. B. Berates Massa for "only" winning, now this.

Yeah, an Italian pit stop of an auction (for those who remember that era), not to mention the political intrigue of the time. This weekend could be very interesting....

Its my opinion that Jean Guikas has maybe despaired of drawing "new blood" customers to a nondescript sales facility in a low rent French city. On the other hand the Vatican honeypot of Ferrari has always drawn the glitterati and its just possible some coked up front row punter will realise on Monday morning he got carried away a bit. Nothing like a bit of peer pressure to spur things along and RM do a spectacular job in generating that !
