Looks good. Little to "RX-8" for my liking though.... Do you guys have the Turbo version over in the states like we do here?
Actually not bad. I was afraid that they would make it too, uh, well, geeze how do I put this? Too blingy. But not bad. Hopefully, the basic car (50/50, great tranny, great motor) remains the same. Dr "Got ma gold tooth displayed" Who
The Mazdaspeed Miata are pretty cool. I'll be racing against them in T3 with the RX8. They have less power, but less weight too. I've heard they have reliabiity issues and since the rules allow you to turn up boost, I think racers will be tempted and go too high and break.
We have 2 turbo versions over here.... We have the Mazspeed version as well. But its a special order through the dealer. The other is the .... The MX-5 SE. Its only got a little bit more power, but it's loads up on torque. Great car for the $ IMO. How about the Aussie Built Miata with a V8? http://cp_www.tripod.com/rotary/pg14.htm
I'm assuming this will be the new factory Turbo version. I like the RX8 and "6" family resemblance. I'm sure it'll give the S2000 a good run for potential buyers.
Whats your take on this car? Its getting a re disign for 2007, or 08. It will look like an RX-8 from the front. I think they need a hardtop model of the car. It would be more practical for calgary. Its a nice car all in all though. the new Mazda Speed model should give it a bit more kick.
I didn't start off as a big fan of the Miata, although I can appreciate that it really helped the comeback of the modern day sportscar. I must admit that I do like the current design although I think it's starting to get a little pricey (the price has increased quite a bit from its introduction). I am interested in seeing the re-designed model. Practical for Calgary...well, maybe in the summer months!
I happen to own a 1991... car is a blast. The whole concept of the car is brilliant. Not only that, but the thing is damn near indestructable and cheap to maintain. Here are some pics of the new one.. http://miata.net/news/nc.html
I've got a 95 Miata and owned a 93. Awesome car, very reliable, LOTS of mods available (turbos, superchargers, suspension stuff, headers, roll bars, etc.) If you ditch the spare for a can of fix-a-flat, the trunk is big enough to work as a daily driver (it's mine). Best sportscar around for the money. Feedback is phenomenal. There are cars out there with higher ultimate limits, but I've never driven any other car that had the feedback that the Miata has at the limits. If you feel the need of hard top, they're available. Street price for a good used hard top is around $900-1100. It's fun to have a rear wheel drive car that weighs 2300lbs.
Yes. www.racingmazda.com Ric's miniMonster is in the 10s and he sells turbo kits for those that want to follow in his footsteps. There are also kits to drop in a Ford 5.0 at www.v8miata.com . Another popular turbo kit can be found at www.flyinmiata.com . For 90-93 Miatas, the Greddy turbo kit is probably the cheapest at around $1200 (but stock boost is only about 5psi worth about 140rwhp.)
I think the original Miata is the best looking and probably the BEST Miata of all. I currently own '92 that I use for weekend and gymkhana racing. Simply put, it's the car that make me smile the quickest...even Ferrari can't do that. By the way, the NC isn't too bad. The look is very modern. I just hope it can be as much fun as the original.
