Did anyone else catch the "Classic Car Hunters" show on Discovery last night? There was extensive footage of Tom in his shop, pulling cars out of barns, hanging with celebs, judging at Pebble etc. Very cool.

    "I'm just a junk dealer"!

    Cheers,

On the science channel they are running a program called "classic car hunters". The next time you see Tom Shaughnessy you may not want to purchase a part, but ask for an autograph....good show, and worth watching if you are interested in vintage cars, especially Ferrari. I have spoke to Tom many times over the phone. It is nice to now be able to but a face to a voice. Well sort of...

I have it on good authority that the "Tom" on the show was actually an imposter. A paid actor impersonating Tom was on the show. The actual Tom was not only deemed too frightening for a family show, but he was busy buying Daytonas for $120K and selling them for $275K!

    It was a fun show.

If he can turn that kind of profit, good for him. I have not ever met him in person, and he has not ever made a dime off of me, however over the last few years he has always taken the time to give me great advice on the purchase and restoration of my car, whenever I call him.

    Missed it! :(

Tom is one of the most honest and direct people I've ever met in the "classic car" business....

Uhhhhh surely people are not interpreting my post as anything other than jest? If I did not respect Tom and value his opinions and services I wouldnt joke around about him.

Besides, I am going to be buying some Daytona parts soon and I want him to treat me well!

In the spring of 1995 Tom invited me to his house when we were doing a deal for some Dino parts/wheels I needed. You should see the sheer volume of stuff that he has.

I made the mistake of telling him that I also had a Maserati Bora and he went tangentile like a roadrunnner!
    "Scott, don't you need..."
I responded, "but Tom, you already have ALL of my money..."

It's all junk, until someone needs it !!!! :)

Glad to see so many enjoyed the show. Fun doing the production and for all you FCHAT price shoppers, there will be no price increases on the parts inventory.

BTW: Jonathan, Freeman Thomas is not a Celeb, if that is who you were referring to. He is a good friend, talented designer, and one of largest car enthusiast that I know. His disease is infectious, although I already had contracted it. He met me at my house at midnight to go get that Vignale Europa and we drove all night. He is kinda nuts and I glad to have him around.

Ok Tom, I stand corrected ! I agree, anyone involved with Vintage Ferrari's has to be a little nuts, which is a good thing.

Hope everyone had a good time this weekend, I hope to make it next year.

    Cheers,
    Jon

    Hi Freeman,
Admittedly, his frenetic schedule does not work well for me. I do like to eat FOOD! once in a while, while Tom has no need for such frivolity, his body and soul are powered by the purest evil.

He reluctantly agreed to stop for a high-line drive through "dinner", after 1:00 am, one night and only then because he couldn't stand my crying any more. He said that the tears were going to rust the floorboards of his old F-150.:D

Tom says he sell about $500,000 in parts per year. Didn't someone just pay that for a set of 246gts tools, books and key fob?

    Correction

Tom did not say he sold 500k a year the commentator did. If you ask Tom he sells 60k in parts a year and all at a loss. Must be paying for those one off Vignale cars with recycled Diet Coke cans.
