    I was lucky enough to crack the nod to attend a function today, where Shell brought Felipe Massa out to South Africa for just 24 hours, to help launch their new V Power 95 fuel. Shell gave our Ferrari Club 30 tickets for us to bring along some Ferraris this morning. There were also media, corporate ticket holders and competition winners there.

    What a nice guy. He spent most of the 3 or 4 hours he was there, signing autographs (including two for me), doing a couple demo laps in one of the member's 430, answering questions and being the consumate professional. What I did not realise from seeing him on TV all the time is how small he really is.

    Then he was on to Kyalami to do some promo work for Shell, and a couple of laps in a FXX ahead of the A1 GP race there tomorrow.
    Then on a plane back to Europe tonight.

    The drivers of today are slightly bigger than horse jockeys. I've been fortunate to run into a few over the years and they seem to be getting smaller and smaller.

    With the exception of ralph firman, he was little over 6'3''. But yeah the rest are tiny.

    I was watching A1 quali earlier today and was rather surprised to see massa there. Nice that you met him:)

    The average height is around 5 feet 9 inches. Fernando Alonso is 5 feet, 7.3 inches tall. Lewis Hamilton is 5 feet 8.5 inches. Michael Schumacher is 5 feet 8.5 inches. His brother Ralf is 5' 10". Drivers who are over 6' are rare. David Coulthard and Jenson Button are both 6'0" tall. The tallest F1 drivers in 2007 were Mark Webber and Alexander Wurz, who are both 6'1".

    :) yes its good fun:). More in to boxing now though since i'm better at sports as an individual.

    A1GP is on at noon tomorrow on skysports 401. Have to double check for the time though.

    Very cool. I felt the same way when I saw Schumy for the first time on a scooter at USGP Years ago, and he was freaking small. Walked right past Quick Nick Heidfeld in the Indy airport the year he flipped over and he was tiny. Looked at him as I walked past and said "thanks for coming to race, hope you're ok" And he winked as if to say thanks for not making a scene, but he was one tiny little dude.

    It is just wierd because these guys have been my heroes, and now I see them and I always joke with my friends that they are like "1/2 men"...

    ... another reason there are few American F1 driver candidates. ;)

    Very Cool Experience! Great Pics!

    I had met him at the USGP in '05 during the Thursday Signing Sessions when he was with Sauber Petronas. Very Nice. Also got a 1:18 Enzo Signed by him & Ross Brawn in '06 at the USGP. Always a treat to meet any F1 Driver.

    Wow didn't know that. I didn't know there were any drivers that were 6'0" tall, maybe it's not over yet for me.

    How tall is Kubica? He seems to be taller than most too.
