One of my favorite things about the Maserati Coupe was its metal intake. The engine cover in the new Gran Turismo and Quattroporte is just made of plastic. This looks so much cheaper than the old Coupe and I assume that's why the material was changed, correct? Do you think the classic metal engine intake would increase the future value of the car? Has this ever been discussed?
I'm thinking of getting an Mc Victory Coupe to hold on to rather than a new Gran Turismo
Also, does anyone know what kind of metal(s) the intake is made of in the Coupe?

I know the plastic intake on the current Corvette is lightweight and the pieces are vibration welded together. I think it reduces cost and allows for more complex shapes. The welding is from the heat that is generated when the separate pieces vibrate against each other in the manufacturing process. It probably doesn't look as cool as a polished aluminum intake with individual throttle bodies but it is not just a cost issue.

plastic is lighter than metal and therefore better in a high performance car...
