Hello all, thinking of adding the metal pedals to my 94 Spider. I see versions offered on Ebay. Was this an option from Ferrari? Dealer? or purely aftermarket? Or D... all of the above?

    Thanks
    Anthony

Apologies as I'm a mondial (cousin) owner, but I used the Hill after market set (PS01) very well made and were easy to fit. Just conscious of losing a little of pedal gap and making sure that you have inserts for holes for a bit of usual grip and/or keep shoes dry as the feel is different and a couple of times my feet slipped off on track days. Not a pedal 'fault' just a user with wet soled driving shoes!!! Haven't tried the wider heel/toe set.

    Anthony -

The aftermarket pedals from Hill Engineering are available in stock at Ricambi America: PS01 PEDAL SET

They'll fit the 348 Spider well, and we have fitting instructions here: PS01 Pedal Set Installation

If you do it, get the metal dead pedal cover too. Otherwise the black rubber stock cover will look like crap.

And definitely get the spikey, grippy brake and clutch pedals as mentioned above. Just be aware that driving barefoot becomes really uncomfortable.

Robert at Ultimate pedals makes a nice set, I have them on both my Jag and Ferrari.

They will also do custom inserts for the dead pedal.

I like the grippy OEM style pedals with no rubber inserts, looks cleaner to me.

And...do get the dead pedal cover, you will miss it after you install the others.

Someone here anodized their Hill pedals in black, which looked really nice. In a tan interior I seem to recall.

Is there a difference in quality between the Hill Engineering version or the more expensive Ferrari version on Ricambi's site? Or like most brands am I just paying for the name?

I got the Hill version from Ricambi and installed them myself. Note of caution: use the fastest drill (not rechargeable) and get extra tough drill bits. I burned through about a dozen on that super tough floor board steel Ferrari uses.

The steel used in the pedals of modern cars is stout stuff. Using a cobalt bit will make it a much, much easier job

Second the recommendation for the Hill pedals. They look very appropriate for the car. Also second the recommendation for the Hill footrest. I wasn't sure I'd like it but now that it's installed I can't imagine being without it.

However, there is a problem with installing that style of footrest, at least for OCD types like me. The footrest itself is not as large as the original rubber pad so it leaves an area next to it that would collect dirt. On top of that, the cool holes will let dirt and dust through into the carpet which will eventually discolor the carpet to the point that it'll never come clean.

Some people may not care but stuff like that bothers me no end. I addressed the situation by cutting a piece of 1/8" ABS to go behind the dead pedal that also covers the area to the side all the way to the wheel well. I had intended to just paint it but I had some self adhesive felt left over from another project so I used that to cover the backing plate and it wound up matching the carpet so well you really have to look for it even if you've got your head in the footwell shining a light on the dead pedal! The adhesive on the felt is low tack, so when it gets dirty it'll only take a few minutes to replace it with a new piece of felt. :)

I took a bunch of pics and even made a template of the backing plate. I was intending to do a post on it one of these days but obviously haven't gotten around to it yet. If anyone is interested let me know and I'll post a few pics.
