    ************ BUMP *********************

I hate to revive this thread, as it is not very positive, but I had an ****** encounter this morning that I wanted to rant about. So, here goes....

I went uptown to meet two friends (and soon to be future biz partners!) for coffee and to discuss our biz plan. I parked my xterra at a parking meter, got out and put a dime in the meter (it was all the change I had on me), and that got me 6 minutes. Cool, so I then walk up about a block to the Starbucks, say hi to my buddy who was waiting for me. I then go inside and order an iced caffee latte, and ask the cashier for change of $1 for the parking meter. She gives me my change and change for the meter, and a couple minutes later I go out with my coffee, and go off to feed the parking meter. Well, as I'm walking toward my xterra, the parking enforcement ****** pulls in front of my xterra and gets out. He walks to the back of my xterra and pulls out his automatic ticket writer. I'm about 40' maybe 50' away and I yell to the guy "Hey, I've got change!!!!", and he turns to me and sees me clearly running to my xterra. He then goes about punching in my license plate into his auto ticket writer. I approach him and he says "It was already in the system". I say "BS!!! You saw me and heard me before you began punching in my vehicles info.!!!". He then goes to hand me the ticket and I tell him to put it on the windsheild, and ask him how much time I can stay parked there before I'll get another ticket. He says that I won't get another ticket for two hours. I then say to the guy "I hope something bad happens to you!! You deserve it!!". He then says "What you want a truck to come and hit me??". I reply "I don't care if that happens or if you stub your toe on a curb!!". He then says "That's really nice.". I then reply "Karma's a *****! You'll get yours." and walk away. So, I hope this jerk gets his for being such a mean-spirited ******!!!

F**K YOU Officer : UNIT 11FF of Charlotte Parking Enforcement!!!

Thankfully, my anger was soon mellowed by the sighting of a black Lotus Esprit TT V-8 and a 360 Modena :) !!! That took the edge off quite nicely!!

Wow--Dime meters?! Don't get me started on the meter agents. I had an identical experience with 5 employees watching. The "officer" (what an insult to real officers) wouldn't engage me, and I later learned they're not supposed to. But the last 5 tickets I've received have all been dismissed by protesting them. Talk about a waste of time.

I did read the thread, and posted in it previously. But perhaps you're correct and I should have started another thread.

Next time, I'll just ask "What would gblogger do???" and go from there....

Actually, I'm glad you revived it. I figured "Post Your Own ****** Experience" was a good use for it. Unless letting it fade would be a better sign of respect?

I thought it would be a good use for "Post Your Own ****** Experience", and that is why I revived it. Also, the title is so properly fitting for my experience with this ****** meter maid. He was just being an ******.

And to answer your previous question, the meters take nickels, dimes, and quarters.

    Flame suit on....

So, in 6 minutes you walk one block, say only 'hi' to buddy, order and wait for coffee, then wander back to your car. Are you sure it wasn't more like 10-15 minutes? The 'hi' wasn't a longer conversation? The smarter move would have been walk to friend, ask for change or go inside for change, feed meter, then get coffee.

Fact is, your meter expired. Violation of the law. Not his fault, and the parking officers are just doing their job. They've seen and heard it all, and get abused everyday from people upset at getting a ticket.

With all the abuse you piled on him, what kind of Karma do YOU expect?

    Flame suit off.....

Regarding CT, that is totally F-uped. I can't believe no one tried to stop traffic or help the man. Sad world we live in.

Back to OT, my condolences on your friend. I'm guessing they never found the hit/run person. Sad.

No need for a flame suit, you're entitled to question things and post your viewpoint :) .

I am quite certain that it was very close to 6 minutes because that is all I knew I had timewise after putting a dime in the meter. And I know that the meter maids get out early in the morning and show no mercy to the am crowd. I hurried my a** up, and did not have a long conversation with my friend. Just a Hi, lemme go get a coffee and change for the meter and I'll be back. I even saw the meter maid park his buggy in front of my xterra, get out and walk to the back of my xterra. I then yelled to him from 40-50' away that I've got change, he turned and saw me, and then proceeded to punch my lic plate into his auto ticket writer. That is just being a downright discourteous, mean-spirited d*ck.

As for abuse that I piled on him.... HA!! He initiated the bad karma on himself by writing me the ticket when he saw me very close with change for the meter. I just told him that he would get his because karma is a b**ch. I have no problem with what I said at all. But maybe you're right and I've got some bad karma coming for my negativity. I'll just have to wait and see, but in the meantime, I can live with myself just fine :D

As for the CT hit and run, that is totally f**ked up. How can someone do that to another human being and then be so cold as to just drive away?? I hope the person gets caught and made an example of.

Well, I went to the parking enforcement HQ yesterday to pay the ticket and to file a complaint against the officer who wrote the ticket. I had a very pleasant conversation with the supervisor and explained the situation exactly. The supervisor agreed that the officer was not setting a good example for the parking enforcement agency, and that his writing this ticket was not good for building an amicable relationship with the general public. The supervisor offered me the opportunity to appeal the ticket at a later date, but I declined because I doubt it would have done any good, and besides I've already wasted an hour dealing with this ticket. Why waste another hour or two when the best outcome that could happen is the $25 ticket gets overturned  . But the supervisor did say that he would address this with the officer. I said "Thank you, I appreciate your time and that you heard my complaint!! Have a great weekend!!".

I'll post up any updates but I think this is the end of it....

(And, oh yeah, I'm gonna deduct the $25 this ticket cost me from my '08 taxes because it is now a business expense :p :D !)
