We didn't actually do the rally from Denver to Glenwood since we already live close to Glenwood (40 miles). But we did do the car tour to the secret destination and answered all the questions on Saturday, June 9, 2007.

Started at 8 AM and went east on 82 to Carbondale. Then over to McLure Pass to Delta. Up 50 to 141. West on 141 to Gateway via Gateway Canyon. 44 miles of spectacular scenery. Not much traffic. Great road. No police. Needless to say we made good time except that we stopped at least a dozen times to take paictures.

Ended up at the Gateway Resort founded 3 years ago by Hendricks (founder of the Discovery Channel) and his private car collection of American autos from way back to the 50s. Beuatifully displayed. Ate a good lunch at the Paradox grill.

Went to the "awards" dinner at the Ramada in Glenwood. There were just over 100 people there so I estimate there were over 50 cars at the event. Mostly MGs. Some Austin Healey's, Morgans, Miatas, Minis and some American iron. We had the only Ferrari. there was one 1960s Mercedes SL that I saw.

    Observations and opinions:

The people were very gracious and very friendly.
Very well organized and laid back. Not any whiners that we saw.
    They drive the speed limit.
They don't have radar detectors that I saw.

It was a great event and we had a great time. the weather was beautiful and the people were car people.

Nice to see agroup that has to do more (dare I say almost constant) repairs than Ferrari owners. Some people couldn't go on the tour of 370 miles because their cars couldn't make it that far.

We didn't enter the car show today and instead stayed home to watch the F1 race at Montreal on Fox.

    Some pics.

Hey Phil, looks like it was a fun trip, and I know the weather was gorgeous! I was out cruising in the 308 last night checking out the cars! I looked for you at the show this morning, but figured you had other things to do!
Here are a few of my favorites from the show - 1934 MG PA 1850, Aston Martin DB2/4, '55 Morgan... alas, no Ferraris except for my embarassingly dirty 308 in the parking lot. :)
