Sawgrass is really more suburban Ft. Lauderdale. Downtown Ft. Laud will be a 20 minute drive. Anthony's Runway 84 is great, Cafe Martorano is excellent as well. Sunfish Grill is off the beaten path, it's always been phenominal.

Miami is about a 40 minute drive depending on where you're going. If you like Cuban I'd recommend Cafe Versailles on Calle Ocho in Little Havana. If you like sushi Nobu is one of the best and it's on South Beach.

There are lots of good places on Las Olas in Ft. Lauderdale if you are staying in Broward. Steak954 at the W, Timpanos, NOLO are all pretty good.

If you are going to Miami, check out River Oyster House in downtown. It is next door to Tobacco Road, so after dinner you can go hear some live music.
