Any of you guys go on the Miami to Key West poker run with the Florida Powerboat Assoc. the other day? My bro in law just came back from it and said it was a blast. He said there is another one in Feb. I may go down for that one. Looks like a good time.

Nice! This year he took both Fountains (a 42 race and a 48 express cruiser) and let one of his buddies drive the cruiser. Alot of fun but that hobby makes exotic cars look like a bargain!

This is my other boat. You got the part absolutely right about the pocket change part.

I go through $500.00 in fuel in a matter of a couple hours. I often think if I would sell the boats and had spent all the money on cars that went into boats the past 30 years, I would need a couple warehouses to house all the cars.

Gotta love the cats! I hear they are getting harder and harder to insure. I have seen a few jet turbine cats in Annapolis that are just unreal. My brother in Laws Fountain tops out at 127 and those cats fly by like he is standing still. That is serious boating!

The only insurance you can get on a cat is liability. My cat has 2200 HP (1100) per motor on pump gas and 2500 (1250 per motor) on 110 race fuel.

I have probably passed your brother in law.

But at the end of the day I think you can say you would have more fun in the boat. I mean exploring the ocean and lets face it the sunsets from a boat are better then from any car. At the end of the day id rather have a cat then most cars. I love your boat! Are those engines blown?

BDS 1471 blowers, 600CI Merlin blocks with the new high tech Dart CNC'd heads. Dry sumped with the multistaged water pumps, dominator carbs, intake chillers.

Essentially these are high tech race engines. They would tear a NASCAR body apart. With the boat you have the freedom of speed and no traffic. The big charge are the poker runs. The speed and roar of the engines and whine of the blowers is exhilerating.

Boats are more impractical than cars but the thrill to me is so much greater.
