But they arent on the list anymore for most drug dealers, illegal aliens, old people, and bad drivers.

the bad parts of L.A (too many to list) were pretty violent in the 80's and 90's... im shocked to see Miami in the top 3 right behind Detroit and Memphis......

my neighbor happens to be a cop working in Miami... he's in his 30's, black, and appears to be right winged... he tells me all the time that crimes in Miami are mostly committed by either unemployed black youth or illegals (mostly haitians and islanders).

keep in mind Miami is not a small city and like all cities it too has its good and bad areas.... crimes in South Beach are minimal..... head to Opa Locka and its a different world.... like long island and harlem...... south central and calabasas... etc etc.

Miami should rank pretty high on the public officials corruption list as well as on the list of the vanishing-money scandals.
True to its name of "Magic City", $ 450M were quickly found, to build a new stadium for the Miami Marlins, so its owner could get richer faster, at the expense of the community, while Jackson Memorial Hospital has a deficit of $ 240M and must lay-off personnell and Dade County School Board needs to close down schools and slash teachers pay to contain its deficit.
Just to put priorities in the right perspective!!

Again, each community has the government it deserves.

    I like it here, regardless.

You know what they say, about 78.6% of all statistics are made up on the spot, anyways!...... ;)

I like it here too and I continue to say that Miami has the advantages of a big City without all the disadvantages of a big City.
I still get upset though, when I see public officials lining their pockets with $$$ at the expenses of the community they are supposed to serve.

Putting things in prospective, whoa, here?? ... there's corruption etc but is nothing comparing with the violence and corruption that you find in Rio or most cities in South America, East Europe as far as I know doesn't get much better, there's places in Italy that the organized crime still has deep control o public $$ and private business ...

So, yes Miami it's a bit more rough in the edges, I agree ... but is not alarming IMHO ... not at all .. + those MSN lists are always a joke ...

If Miami ever gets close to Rio or Sao Paolo in crime I'll have to start wearing kevlar and shoulder my AR everywhere! You can't even go to the bank there without having to worry about getting nabbed. Miami is like amish country in that comparison. ;)
