If this season had happened in 1963 what would the outcome have been? Verstappen would be the champion. the FIA and Rules are so restrictive it ruins the racing.... this is what happens when the "sport" is monetized to 100%. TV dictates a race - a big finish. Masi delivered the race. He did it safely.

As other have noted here - Hamilton and Mercedes had 22 races to establish dominance - so did Red Bull... the politics came in ... that is what should be looked at - for future racing.

For any Court to overturn the Championship - will just make F-1 a mockery - more than it already is... an argument between Multi millionaires... using the most exotic cars in the world.... what a statement arguing over a title that really in the great scheme of things means nothing. some perspective needs to be given here... they are not curing cancer, or leading nations in war.. .its a race. Mercedes should chock it up -= come back next year faster than ever. Sir Hamilton should do the same.... as should Red Bull... lets hope Ferrari can stick its nose in there too. anything else is just the fall of the F-1 empire.

 

Then your a fool if you think a competition does not need to follow its own rules. If it does not need to follow its own rules why would any body in their right mind invest or compete in it? Let me know when you have figured it out, as some one who is currently sponsoring some thing for my own buisnes, i can asure you, i wouldnt want my buisnes name tarnised by being associated with some thing corrupted and known to freely break contracts ( As the teams would have to sign contracts to agree to adhear to those FIA sporting regulations at all times, so will the FIA reps... ) openly and right on the world stage in front of the whole world. it will make me look bad for paying them to do so, i would also make sure that if they didnt agree to keep its integrity i can end the contract immediatly for breeaching it.

If the FIA has broken its own rules then Merc are way way way with in their right to appeal and as the ICA will look at the best intrests of sporting fairness and the fact they broke the regs will most likely agree as so to not harm the other 20 odd different racing seriers that all need to abide by those rules, Sponsors and co for them too, big a big big big deal, i cant understand how you cant see that other than being a fan boy of MV ( Take note i am an F! fan first and foremost, a Ferrari Fans 2nd and a Leclerc Sainz fan 3rd ) so obviously dont want MV losing his corrupted title..

 

F1 has been a mockery since 2014. Spa this year was the coup de grace.

 

So what about all the royalties LH and Merc could have got for winning some thing they legally won? the future sponsors? what about next years budget which will be affected?

It needs to be changed, for the good of the sport. what is more damaging is naming MV champion and leaving it like that when the world knows its illegally won? and will be for ever known as that. that would be more damaging...

Yes, I want Max to win at the same token the stewards, to include Masi, are inconsistent in their penalties.

In this particular case, Masi and the FIA are backing each other regarding what happened at Abu Dhabi between Max and Lewis to include Mercedes Benz's appeals.

Don't broadstrock the canvas with a huge paintbrush to fit your narrative.

There are no fools here......just opnions....and in this case regarding Abu Dhabi between Max and Lewis, Masi, the stewards and the FIA made their decision and stand by it.

IF Mercedes does'nt like it, they can always leave F1.

 

My $0.02, f1 racing is entertainment. Every Dutch person will watch next years championship. Japan comes back with interest due to Hondas engine (even though Mario Illian had his hand in it), Austria is happy red bull won. Viewership, and revenues go up. The decision for mv to be world champion May have been made months ago, and I think masi was supported in his decision by higher ups. As I said, my opinion.

Its ok to you to say that, but is it to the fia? No merc? Fine we have no world constrtor champ... And everyone will know why... How many others pull outs do you think itll cause in a sport that merc pulled out because it lacked sporting integrity?. If fifa was caught manipulating a football game how mich do you think that would damage football? And all ots associated companys?

It never was the "pinnacle of motorsport" once it entered the turbo-hybrid era.

LMP1 from WEC is the pinnacle of motorsport with more advanced and efficient hybrid engines.....since 10 years ago.

 

And if that is true, we have all been taken advantage of, regardless of what team or driver we may happen to cheer for. It may have happened in the past, but they did a better job of disguising it. I've been following F1 since the late 60's, and yes there have been head-scratching moments along the way (the governing body has caused me to question what has gone on more than once), but they've really jumped the shark on this one. Of course media coverage and accessibility have played their part too.
It was mentioned above that MB can always leave F1if they don't like it. It's a huge investment for them and other teams, especially with the the recent investment in the new cars. I don't doubt for one minute that they are considering their long term options if it isn't worth their while (however they determine that), as I'm sure they and other teams do every year. Many factors go into such decisions, and I'm confident this event will be included. Ferrari has threatened to leave, and there have been folks on this forum that agree with them. RB threaten to leave every time Marko has a bowel movement - and they are doing so now, if the result gets reversed. This also impacts RB and MB outside of F1, since both teams are vested in other FIA sanctioned events.
Regardless of how you look at it, this has developed into on hell of a mess, and nobody, person or team, is going to walk away happy - fan base included. So how do they fix it with minimal collateral damage? Maybe MB will back off, but i don't doubt they will find another way of saving face.

No, it's the hybrid engine and the people behind it to include the drivers. Running an LMP1 program for 24 hours is no joke. Porsche and Audi (Joest) ran very efficient and fast LMP1 programs to include their hybrid engines.

Tires(Michelin) are better too than Pirelli in F1 which is why Michelin won't join F1 as a tire supplier. Michelin doesn't believe in the array of tire compounds currently in F1.

 

Also LMP1 cars are way more aero efficient. F1 cars have a lot of drag with exposed wheels like that and that alone creates a lot of inefficacy.

 

i dont see a queue forming to get a drive in it.....

I see a long one for f1.. some no infact 99.9% never make it into f1 or make it in it, just look at MV dad....... most are never deemed good enough. some spend money to get in... Will max run off to Lmp1 now he has his f1 title? after all he isnt the best if he hasnt won the pinicle....

 

It's not about racing with F1. It's the fame and fortune that comes with the spectacle unlike other series. That's what the drivers (not racers) want.

 

But if your no good, you wont get that..... you need to be good to drive in an f1 car, you need a reputation, drivers wait and hope to get that phone call, some try their whole lifes..... some get in right away because they are deemed an amazing talent. most wait, and keep waiting... Most f1 drivers can jump into any other series and get a drive.... Every one else is trying to get into f1......

 

It only takes a few hundred million dollars from family to get a seat in F1. That's the bare minimum basically. You don't have to be good.
