it means that the race director has final say over the clerk of the course but all actions must still be taken in accordance with the rules. for example, if the race director gave the clerk authority to bring out a safety car in response to a crash he could do so. But let’s suppose it’s raining and the clerk thinks after 5 laps it’s safe to bring in the SC but the RD overrules him and leaves it out a further 3 laps. In the event the clerk and the RD disagreed about when the safety car should return to the pits the RD has authority over him. But any decisions made still have to follow all safety car procedure in 48.
Lando Norris congratulates Verstappen: "The Mercedes was the better car" https://www.motorsport-total.com/formel-1/news/lando-norris-gratuliert-verstappen-der-mercedes-war-das-bessere-auto-21121801
Both drivers made the difference. Their team mates were no threat in the championship battle. You gotta call it like it is. I can gladly say Max and Lewis deserved the championship. Max drove better than Lewis at times. Lewis drove better than Max toward the end of season. I can say that because my focus is not to %100 hate one driver as you do.
No, Mikey,No! I'm thinking of making this my new cell phone ring! Bonus if I can find audio of the Totonator saying "Nein" angrily instead!
As a race addict for the past forthirtwent…. Go with 14 years, I want a green finish. I don’t care if it is raining locust, I hear guerilla fire, or the scary Russian gents directly in front won’t stop waving their gigantic Mazepin flag in front of me, I want a race to end as a race, not a parade. Merc believed maintaining position was the way to go. I can’t argue with their logic, if Max got ahead by not pitting and the race did finish under an SC, they’d look like donkeys. And holding an Ace up their sleeve with the success they’ve had constantly badgering the beleaguered Masi, they had every right to think he’d see things their way. However, Masi cracked sometime during Toto’s hundredth bleating and the pressure spun him into his old boss Charlie Whiting. After being knocked around for the entire season, Merc wasn’t going to tell him what to do this time and like Buster Douglas, he picked himself off the ground, got it together and laid out who the boss was. And for that, after a shaky start, I hope he stays around.
15.3.e) of the Sporting Regulations allows the Race Director to override 48.12 and 48.13 of the Sporting Regulations, the two sections cited by Mercedes in their protest. Stewards said 15.3.e) trumps 48.12 and 48.13 and dismissed the protest. While Christian Horner showed up for Red Bull at the Steward's Hearing, Toto Wolf did not for Mercedes. Sent his legal counsel instead. Masi did not have permission to break any rules. 15.3.e) is the rule that allows him to make the decision he did. Mercedes filed an intent to appeal; however, chose not to file an appeal, probably on the assumption they'd lose. If you read the steward's decision, there is not much wiggle room for an appeal, and the stewards in place were probably as knowledgeable as you could ask for as a panel. Garry Connelly is the senior steward in F1.
In such case, it's almost instinctive to appeal a decision, if you feel you are victim of a wrongdoing. But someone at Mercedes must have realised it would be bad PR to freeze the outcome of the championship, and have it decided in court. I remember years ago during the Lauda versus Hunt epic year, that several appeals delayed the result of the championship for months. The FIA rarely, if ever, comes back to correct the decisions of its officials; this is why it's futile to appeal against them.
It’s being reported that the circus clown Massi is keeping his job for 2022 and getting more powers! Apparently the stewards are being ditched and Massi will make all the decisions himself. This can’t be true?!
That can't be right. I'd rather they get rid of hte current stewards and simply install experienced racing drivers only in place. Not ones that know the most law... To clarify, I know they have 1 racing driver steward at every race right now but I feel their influence is negligible most of the time, especially when guys with obvious agendas like Gary Connelly are given ''chief steward'' titles. Actually, just let Stefan Johansson run the show, he's one of the few with a functioning brain it seems.
Agree, i guess we also have to consider MV and LH were the only two drivers who were ever going to win the WDC from the outset. Their team mates, a more apt name would be stooge were only there to bolster the WCC.
Apparently, the global news is reporting that Massi will take a sack so that Lewis does not take a sabbatical.
lulululululululu everything is about this punk, did he invent F1? wtf does he bring to this sport ? what?
Michael Masi Not Named on FIA Organisation Chart for January 2022 — FormulaNerds.com Seems to be some truth behind the rumors. Of course he would take the fall, he brought ill-repute to the series that it still hasn't been able to shake. Blaming Hamilton for Masi's season-long stumbles seems like misplaced ire.
I think he’s a sacrificial lamb meant to tamp down all the social media stuff. Twitter, Instagram and FaceBook are pretty brutal and super-polarized. And, of course, the mainstream sports media is feeding right into it.
Fully agree and thats an understatment about LH blame. Masi runs the races. Maybe next year will bring clarity lol
