David, his accident was in 76, he returned as soon as he could. IIRC he retired in 79, came back in 82 and won in 84.
The last driver to win a title after being away from the sport was Prost. Was he "retired" or was he on "sabattical" ? are they really that different in the F1 world ? Either way, he was smart/sneaky enough to only come back to the sport when he knew for sure that he has a vastly superior car.
Agreed, i do not think he would race unless he thought he could win. Thats the mentally of a champion.
Not just Ralf but also Jacques Villeneuve. I remember JV's typical cry baby comments about Michael back in 2006: "I think the day he hangs up his helmet people will just forget him." HAHAHA Looks like they haven't forgotten him yet Jacques!
Well, Alonso would make a great "Storm" because he's always stirring up something and he produces a lot of wind! - Flash
ms is one of the best f1 drivers of all time, if he didn't think he could drive this ferrari to victory he wouldn't even get in the seat,,ive seen him start from dead last and drive around everybody else ,if anyone can do this its him,i hope massa stays out for the rest of this season[just to make sure hes really ok] and i hope he stays in the hospital till hes ok too,it seems like theyre rushing everything
Selfishly I'm glad he's back. In a weird coincidence, right after he retired in nov 2006, my career changed drastically. My company sold it's division; I spent two months out work. I ended up in the same industry, out of necessity, not career goals. I've been trying like hell to switch industries and am making progress; I wonder if fate is alinging with Michaels return???? The past 2.5 years have been miserable; I'll keep you posted. (if anyone cares, lol!) Kevin
Same thing happened with the stock market. Right when he retired things started to get bad and now ever since he announced his come back the market has been up. I think his stars are really good.
"As Formula One fans are delighted to hear about Michael Schumacher's comeback, his return from retirement is expected to be a moneyspinner." http://in.reuters.com/news/video?videoId=108895&videoChannel=104
Lauda try some practice laps in a Jaguar F1 a few seasons ago,,,, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YfUbgPQ3Eg&feature=PlayList&p=20972FFD65FFB036&index=6 With Schumi is going to be so much different jejejje
BTW where is Andreas. Since Mikes return has been confirmed, he has not posted about it at all. When the roumor was thrown around he was saying no way, too old ect ect and now not even a positive comment. Same guy that stood up for Mclaren in the McCheater affair. But he has always said that he wants to see great racing and Ferrari do well but not runaway so easy although it would be another story if Alonso was running away in a Ferrari. Well there is going to be some great if not awsome racing coming up soon brought to you by Mr Schumacher. So Andreas......Where are you?
Call me crazy, but I think Schumie should have stayed retired. Yes it will be interesting to see how he does, but I still think he should have stayed in retirement. Not that he still doesn't have it, not that he isn't the greatest F1 driver of all time, not that he can't do it, but because he has nothing to prove. Besides why risk your health when you have already made a BILLION dollars, and have a family to look after. Who should they have used then? Sebastien Bourdais.
Big Mistake career-wise IMO. You go out On Top and ................. STAY THAT WAY. He (MS) has ONLY ONE direction to go ............. D O W N ! Screw Ferrari F1. If they didn't have a VIABLE plan to replace a driver for whatever the reason, shame on them !
