Red Bull's Christian Horner: "Michael very graciously gave him (Vettel) P6 and that was enough to convert his third consecutive world championship," said Horner. "Michael is renowned for being a tough racer. I think it was his gesture to Sebastian, almost like passing the baton on. "I'm sure it was not particularly well received at his former employer [Ferrari] but I thought it was very magnanimous of Michael to move out of the way for his fellow countryman."
Meh, it´s just blah, blah. At that point of his race (of his career?) Schumacher barely could keep his own as$ behind him, much less a Red Bull.
I think Vettel would have gotten past that lap anyway - he was just faster. Just making it easy and not risking any sort of collision for Vettel was a nice gesture. All the best, Andrew.
+1 And somebody correct if I'm wrong, but IIRC Vettel didn't need MS' position. He was already WDC just driving behind him. That pass only cemented it. I didn't have a problem with MS making it easy for Vettel. However I did think MS used unnecessary roughness against Kobi. But that's all water under the pedestrian bridge now.
I think this is his last comment..... http://www.formula1fancast.com/2012/12/formula-1-news/schumacher-the-best-man-won?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Formula1Fancast+%28Formula+1+FanCast%29 I have known this guy so long and like him a lot; I am really pleased for him. For me, the right man won the Drivers Championship.
Really this is just more of an acknowledgement of Michael than of Vettel. Respect. Obviously Vettel would have had no problem getting by Michael.
Michael Schumacher...the good the bad and the ugly. Where are all the people now who said he'd never see out the 3 years? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EQYimzsaW0[/ame]
Wow it is funny that some still believe it was him, the driver, and do not realize the car was crap. Ve-tal fans seem's to be just as arrogant and pigheaded as when Louise first hit the F1 scene. Reality over the sandbox.....I choose reality! Stay clear of the moors!!!
For now Schumacher IS the greatest F1 driver that has competed in the sport and the statistics prove it. I am glad he did come back even if he wasn't the shadow of the driver he was in his 2nd outing.
vettel could have passed him. but the gesture was nice on michael's part and shows their friendship and mutual respect. it was a side benefit to ms that it pissed off luca since i am positive that at some point this year ms's agents approached ferrari to have michael replace massa for at least one year and to become a permanent ferrari ambassador, and luca said no.....very stupid for luca to have said no as well imo - the advertising bump would have been phenomenal vs the media attention that massa gets
If Ferrari wanted to win it, they shouldn't have been in a position such as this to lose it. They have to take responsibility for themselves. Which i think they have.
Wow, totally forgot all the spectacular crashes he has had! Schumacher will statistically be the best F1 driver for a long time. Would have loved to see him back in F1 in a more competitive car.
So the two start of the race crashes that took Alonzo out, were something Ferrari could have "controlled" ? I know its speculation, but still... S
