    For those who think Michael isn't a worthy champion because he demanded first driver treatment: I just read an interview with Piquet and one with Senna at the end of the 1987 season. They both clearly implied that there were number one driver agreements IN THEIR CONTRACTS. This didn't mean their teammates respected that status though.

    Absolutely. If Senna wouldn't have passed away, there is no doubt in my mind that he would have been the one to break Fangio's record, as well as most of the records that Schumi currently owns. Schumi would have won at least a couple of Championships, but nowhere close to the 7 he currently has.

    I couldn't disagree more. What drivers in the past 10 years would you compare to Senna? I cannot think of any, and that includes Mika Hakkinen. I think Senna was in a league of his own, and Schumi would have become part of that league, just a fraction below Senna in driving skill, but above the rest.

    Those are the key words right there............"past their sell date". To begin with; Alesi, Hill, Berger, and Villeneuve shouldn't even be on that list. All the rest combine to have 13 WCs, but were very much at the end of their careers.

    Schumi has accomplished more than any other driver in the history of the sport. However, throughout his career, the only other WCs he competed against are;
    Senna (whom I don't count because he died before Schumi ever won his first)
    Piquet (who was well past his "sell by date", therefore not a driver that Schumi had to fight hard with)
    Hill (are you kidding me? I could have won the WC using remote control for the Williams!)
    Hakkinen (the only strong competitor he ever fought against, but not in Senna's league)
    JV (same as what I wrote for Hill)
    Alonso (may turn out to be a multiple winner, but only has one as of Schumi's retirement announcement)

    Schumacher is not a "kid" when he first came in to F-1 with Jordan... he was using a clutch... and raced a full season in 92 with a non auto gear box....
