True, but I'm not worried about him.

His problem is now whether to print t-shirts and admirals hats with "8 times champion" for Interlagos or not. :)

AH! I didn't know these things! More going on...Then Michael is not that content? Hmm...I wonder then what surprise he will have for us all?
Since no team mgr. then a developemental engineer?
Nein, mein freund! Michael is still very much German!

I know! The return of Auto-Union to F1! An Audi-Porsche combined effort.
I recall that Tazio Nuvolari, left the Scuderia for them in the '30's. Enzo Ferrari was fired by Alfa-Romeo and thus was born after WWII, Automobili Ferrari

    Anyone remember Mika Haakonnen?

    Ciao...Paolo

I think a great use for Michael Schumacher would be to lead an all Ferrari assult on Le Mans... just the one race... think of the spin that could produce for Ferrari... at probbabbly 100th the cost of an F-1 season.

after Le Mans then Indy 500.... again just the one race... if your gonna go... go large!

I'm sure it will never happen, but I could just see the huge knife it would put in Bernie's side just for the fun of it!

I think a series like ALMS would be fantastic with Schumacher... do a couple races each year with Maseratti or lead a Ferrari sports car comeback...

I like the suggestion that MS would be a roving ambassador for Ferrari. Whatever the circumstances of his retirement, he is obviously held with high regard within Scuderia Ferrari and the tifosi as a whole, and an ambassadorial role would be a perfect fit for the initial stages (1-3 years) of his retirement. His workload would be minimal and he'd be able to meet & greet his adoring fans, as well as boost road car sales & F1 sponsorships revenues.

Sounds like a match made in heaven to me. Can you imagine at the next new F-car launch, MS driving it onto the podium? I can hear the wallets opening as I speak.

Tonight on a German cable show Euromaxx, dubbed in English, they interviewed Willi Weber, along with a curly haired very young Schumacher.

Anyway, Weber indicated that Michael will be working with Ferrari in some capacity, but that he has already made plans for other activities for Michael to try to match the $80 million Euros that MS has been use to earning.

    Not to forget Willi's percentage.

Yes, there is something cooking and it is going to be great to have the greatest racer ever developing a new project for Ferrari!

Impy. If MS doesn't completely retire, does that mean that we are not going to have a rest from you either?

    WE SHOULD BE TOLD!!!

    Sources??

Is your name Luca de Montezemolo?

Are you on intimate terms with MS?

Were you in the room with MS and Luca when they had this conversation?

Do you have special access to the inner workings of the Ferrari team.

Wait, I'll put together a list of 20 or 30 scatter-brained questions, coupled with poorly researched and poorly thought out suggestions and then require you to answer each and every one, citing sources, dates, pages and footnotes, just like in high school, making a fool out of myself in the process...

...sorry, for a second there I thought I was tifosiron...

Having met Andreas, having read his many posts, even when I do not agree with him, at least he makes rational sense, and has credibility. He has been around the block, and actually knows people in the business and not just a magazine subscription. He does not need to fill in the void in his knowledge with distracting colorful metaphors as you do.

    You should pay attention and learn something from him. If that is possible. :}

I happen to enjoy Tifosi's posts as well.

I find him to be insightful, knowledgable, and informed, basically everything you are not.

+2 or 3 or whatever number we're on

I've only been here for a short time, but I can tell from reading the many posts made by Andreas that he is very knowledgable about the sport, and is always great to converse with in the threads.

    Andreas,

I have read some of your posts throughout this forum and see your opinions are formulated with facts as well as some speculation, it is good! I accept them as valid for our discussions and good natured banter. I like to look at the big picture and make observations without at times a specific knowledge of ALL the facts. That's what I'm doing in these last posts about Michael's future. I think he's going to surprise us! But how and when? As wild as some of them are, who knows?
I hope he finishes the season as World Champion, and Ferrari as Constructors Champion, but not handed to him by the Marshalls, he needs to win it by driving to it.

    Ciao...Paolo

Wow, way too much attention focused on me. This thread should be about Michael's future. Which I hope will be at the least testing Ferrari supercars and maybe even a Le Mans start (we're allowed to dream, aren't we?).

Thanks to those supporting my views. When I have a source I normally name it, if I don't it is mostly me spinning my own wheel. Sometimes I hit, sometimes I don't. I'm also a big Eddie Irvine and Alonso fan, so take my post with a big grain of salt. :)

The statement about MS and Montezemolo actually was based on the (for once) good article in Bild. That was published before the race and it made a lot of sense to me. Having see the body languages of Monte and Michael after he exited the car at Monza, I would say those speculations are close to the truth.

Also back in 1999 it was Montezemolo who red Michael the riot act and brought him back to testing and driving the car. Remember he was playing soccer with his buddies in Vufflens while claiming to still recoup from the broken leg. Unfortunately his daughter answered the phone as Monte called and told him Daddy was out playing soccer. That story was reported by multiple sources repeatedly.

Finally (congrats if you read this far) it is true I know a few folks "on the inside" but I would rarely if ever repeat their stories. Just as I know that Tifosiron knows a lot more than he lets on here. Some stuff you're being told is not for publication and if you respect your sources and don't want to loose them, you keep your mouth shut.

I'm sure there are quite a few folks on here who could tell great stories but are biting their lips right now.
