Just saw this today. Do not know if it is a repost. But a very nice article about Micheal. http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/2007/08/06/100141342/index.htm?postversion=2007072709
Great article. I'd be curious to know what they pay him to hang around as a consultant? It benefits him to a degree that F employs him and keeps the MS franchise alive.
Here is the link to the CBS Early Show article. There is a video on this page too. lol forgot the link - Michael Schumacher's Life In The Fast Lane: A Ride With The World's Top Race Car Driver
I miss him too - TERRIBLY !! He was the main "focus" for Ferrari for so long, our leader, in a way we all relied on him, and expected him....to do good for Ferrari. He is supremely talented, despite some dark spots in the past that were calculated risks, arguably the best driver ever. He excels not only on the track, but with how he presents himself in the media, and with his political savy for the team when it's needed. I'm blessed to have watched him race for all those years. When he "had" to retire I was hearbroken. He practically made F-1 and Ferrari what they are today. Millions tuned in to watch this "Schumacher" guy race....what's all the fuss about - the Nascar fans wondered? Yes...I miss him! I wish him all the best...
Would never happen. He retired from the team that brought him most of his money and fame, the team broke last year, he said he was done and hasn't looked back. To start new at another team would be foolish.
Foolish? Not really, why not start a new empire? It would be a new challenge and something interesting and "bold", if you will. If he had the desire to join another team, I would still be as big a fan as ever. If someone like BMW were willing to throw as much money at Michael as he needed to run his own show, then he could turn that team into a title contender in a few seasons or less, especially considering how far BMW has come on their own in such a short amount of time. It wouldn't hurt his legacy, and other than a few butt hurt Ferrari die hards, he'd probably come out with even more fans for taking such a challenge, and an even greater legacy.
Again, he's already answered these questions. Why not start an empire? He said he wants to relax. For you it might be a challenge or interesting, MS wants family time. You wanting him to race has nothing to do with him racing. You're talking about a ton of work that he hasn't done outside of a race car. Again, more records don't seem to sway him at all. This topic has been beat to death over the last year. Michael Schumacher will never again race and F1 car competitively or hold a major roll in an F1 team EVER! The above are his words not mine as I would like to see him race for another 10 years.
.....*shakes head* My point was IF HE WANTED TO DO IT! There would be nothing foolish about it because it's his decision and there are logical reasons to support it.
Why would he spend years building again? You make no sense. he said he doesn't want to be in F1, he said he wouldn't even think of joining another team and even if he did what you asked, why? What else can he do for the record books? For his salary? Sure he could be in f1 until he's 90 but why? Why doesn't Michael Jordan make another come back? Where the heck is John Elway? Bring 'em all back. But not in their proper rolls you say? OK make them all managers or scouts, yeah that makes sense.
Not bad work if you can get it Hilarous that he probably makes more as an ex-driver than 80% of the field do as current drivers.
Great link! i think after all these years, hard work and all, MS just wants to spend his time with his young family.
OK here's the last time I'm going to explain my point, which you're missing. I'm NOT saying he SHOULD do anything. What I am saying, is if he decided he wanted to come back with another team and announced it to the world tomorrow, I wouldn't call that a foolish move, which you did. The reason I wouldn't call it foolish is because it's his life, and he can only add to his legacy, given the right opportunities, such as BMW willing to spend how ever much Michael wanted to develop the F1 team.
