    While it may be a niche need due to the “Loi Montagne” here in France, Michelin has just released the 285/35r20 104Y XL to go along with the 245/35r20 95Y XL that had been available for some time.

    This is the only Y speed rated, 3 peaks mountain snow flake (3pmsf) certified tyre that I know of.

    As 99% of the winter driving season is not extreme, the better dry and wet handling performance compared to the Sottozero and Pilot Alpin, while maintaining 95% of the snow performance is a good compromise. They are also significantly less expensive.

    I have ordered a set for that will be mounted and used during the next winter tire season.
