Do you ever click on those Costco emails? They seem to have Michelin PS 5 tires for 360s now! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Note PS 5 is not the replacement for the MPS4S…. that is the Pilot Sport S5…. https://www.tirerack.com/tires/michelin-pilot-sport-s-5
PS5 is nowhere near as good a tire for Ferraris as the PS4S or PSS if you can find the correct sizes.
They don’t make the OE sizes in those specs. How do we know if these are good or bad? How bad could they be?
They are just everyday tires for everyday cars. They will work fine if you do not push her too hard cornering or braking and they have a very long mileage warranty. That means they will time out before you wear them out.
I was curious about the pilot sport 5 tyre also as my car soon will be needing some new rubber....im still running 18 oem sizes 275 40 18 and 215 45 18 on pirelli p zero Direzionale / Asimmetrico.... Surely these pilot sport 5 tyre are better than my current pirelli that is somewhat old designed tyres now?? Open to opinions or even facts
4S if you care about cornering grip and sport / track driving. 5 if you drive to point a to point b, mainly to cars and coffee.
I actually like the supersports better on track than the PS4S, but that is a discussion for another night.
I understand what everyone is saying but can someone relate... Are the pilot 5 tyres better than the old design p zero Direzionale / Asimmetrico... Surely they must be as good if not better with them being newer design tyre??
I never had that Pirelli tire but I would not hesitate to replace them with the Michelins 5... they would perform no doubt. But if it was me I would stick to ps4s
I think I seen a conversation somewhere that some people put slightly different sizes so that they can use ps4s but can't seem to find it
Nice to have good tires in OEM sizes, but the 5 is not a successor to the 4S in terms of handling. I’d rather use 4S, even though you need them in 10mm wider sizes front and rear because they aren’t available in OEM sizes. So 225/45-18 and 285/40-18. The ratios of the circumferences front and rear are same as OEM, just slightly larger each (0.3 in.).
Unless he tracks the car, or pushing very hard on mountain roads dry and wet; I don't think the 4S will bring tangible improvements to the drive quality or safety for his car to justify getting non-oem sizes... but that's just me. My personal opinion.
