With all the information coming out on tire life is anyone interested in a group purschase of tires (most likely from Coker) for their 246? We will not only feel safer but we can get a discount too.

Are you sure they offer a discount? Seems to me they think they have a fantastic deal for themselves, and don't really need to offer discounts as they "OWN THE MARKET".

My repair guy for my Brit car gets less than 5% discount from them.

dtortoise3 - if you can arrange a volume discount, count me in for five XWXs for the Dino. One problem may be that the discount (if any) will equal the cost of shipping from your location to mine. I doubt that Coker will discount and then ship to multiple locations.

Count me in for a set of five if they can offer a discount of 10-20%.

Have they given you a per tire price and will they break up the shipments to each customer?

Hi, Dinoguys - this might sound like a really dumb question but why on earth would you guys want to use XWXs?. On the many Dinos that passed through my shop in upstate NY, they were the least desireable.
I tried them on my 330 back in 1976 and they were awful. Maybe Michelin improved the compound on the newer tires?
One of the most vivid memories I have was when driving the car in the rain and spinning out on an uphill curve.
I had major problems in the track events.
In the many miles I put on the 330, I used Pirelli, Goodrich, Yokahama and Goodyear and the absolute best all-around was Yokahama. All the other tires I used were priced far below the XWX.
When I was in the business, all my tires came from the Tire Rack.
The tires that most of my Dino and 308 customers preferred were the Comp T/A, 205/70 VR14 as I recall.
    Just my thoughts.

    Bob.

The modern ones from Coker use modern rubber, and are visually correct for the car. I have sumitomos on mine and somehow they just don't look right.

The Comp t/a isn't speed rated enough for the car, and may also lack the load rating necessary. (although I didn't check that)

The XWX is the highest speed rated and load rated 205/70-14 available at this time, and somehow, looks much better on the car than a more modern tread pattern.

I'm not saying it's gonna handle better with these, it probably won't. But, it will LOOK better, and that counts too. We've got tons of $$$ tied up in making these older cars look original, why not pop that last $1500 and make the thing right.

Also, if you're doing the concours thing, the tires make a difference, right?

Although I think Coker is charging way more than they need to for this stuff, they do because they can.

    Just my $.02.

    OK FELLA'S, LAST CALL.

Everyone wanted to know what the special price would be.

I've pm'd all of you, got one or two responses, not enough to make this deal work, so, I need to know if you are interested pretty quick.
    Thanks,

    final update.

only got three takers, not enough to get the discount from Coker. (sorry Guys.)

And no, they will not drop ship to multiple locations or multiple bill, it had to all come to me, and then go out to you guys.

Also, no small "club" discounts that I could get a hold of. after all, you don't need to offer that if you're the only game in town, right?

    25 tires triggers the discount.

Maybe we can try again in the Spring, when their prices go up another 20%

I put 4 on my 79 308 (from Coker) and I think they are GREAT! No, they are not fat and low like modern cars use, but it is what was state of the art back in the day. The compound is modern, and they ride great, and handle acceptably. Until someone starts making Pirelli CN-36's, it's all we have...
