Has anyone tried those micro towels to dry their car? Mine seemed to work well twice, now leaves streaks and I can not seem to 'wring it dry'. What do you guys use to dry your car after washing?

I use a synthetic chamios initially to get all the major water off the car. I do my final wipe down using two of the yellow Costco microfiber cloths. If I remember, I will spritz the car with a little bit of Griot's "Speed Shine" or "Liquid Wax" before the final dry down with the microfiber cloths. It seems to enhance the gloss a bit to do this.

As Sunny pointed out in his mega detail post, take that leather chamoise, tie it up in a knot and give it to the dog to bury in the yard somewhere.

I can already hear the cringing, but I use The Water Blade first to sweep off the water, then a microfiber cloth to finish drying. The microfiber always stays soft and never gets rigid like cotton cloths.

    Microfiber.

    Bright yellow.

Pack of 20 from Costco for about $10.

Yeah, I know, they probably aren't as good as the 3 for $10 ones, but they seem to work and don't leave swirl marks that I can see.

I just swirled up a section on my car with the Cosco Microfiber's. from now On I will chamio the car down and then use speedshine/microfiber's to finish it off. Also make sure you rip the tags off the Microfiber's before useing.

You have to use Waffel weave microfiber towel not just microfiber to dry, and the cheap microfiber towels really suck not worth the money.

I use the costco ones. They work about 3, 4 times after washing, and then they need to be replaced.

The blow dry advice is excellent - not sure you need a leaf blower, though. There's no way repeatedly dry all those Ferrari nooks and crevices without abrading the paint. Blow it.

If you have to use a cloth of some kind, don't rub: blot the car dry. A nice wax job makes it easier.

I've use everything. Towels, Chami's, Microfiber and even the WaterBlade. I love the Microfiber and wont use anything else now. The WaterBlade worked well the first few times and then began to leave a few scratches (easily gone with a buff, but still) so I threw it away.

Can't say I've use a leaf blower, but I'm definately going to have to sometime.

I bought the big blue microfiber towels and they just don't soak up anything. I didn't use fabric softner on them as directed. I wonder if soft water makes them non absorbant?

wash car, leaf blower dry , or fast drive, then costco microfiber with detailing spray .it helps to dampen the microfiber to remove fingerprints. final wipe w dry microfiber. buy the cheap ones from costco /walmart . they are slightly more absorbant ,about 75% as good in removing swirls ,and waxes. use them once or twice even if you wash them , then use them only for rims tires, then use them as shop rags. reason is, they get embedded with sand in those grabby fibers, even w washing, and will scratch your paint finish.

Todd, Costco may have a different supplier for Canada...I notice that products do vary between the Costco's in each country.

As a the owner of a black cheese grater who is forced to wash with hard water in Texas heat, I am hooked on the leaf blower then 100% cotton towel. The blower allows you to get 95% of the water off and gives you enough time to get off the rest with the towel before water spots set in.

After washing the car, I quick dry the car with Costco microfiber towels. Then I use the air compressor to blow off the extra water in the hard to reach areas. Works great for the challenge grill, around the fog lights, air intakes, rubber seals etc. Dry again with the microfiber towels to get the displaced water and she's good to go. A leaf blower... I'll have to try that some time.
