This seems to confirm what the green car above shows- the black boomerang is gone from the side of the car; same wheels on each. Image Unavailable, Please Login Some hyporbole from the article: There is a new audience for a mid-engine Corvette. These are the computer –generation, raised with a laptop in one hand, a smart phone in the other. They embrace technology. I had one of these guys, a software writer, age 27, as a room-mate. He made $1,000 a week until I took him to an interview where his salary went from $100,000 a year to $140,000 in one day. That is the kind of money this new generation makes. Forget water balloons. Even if Chevy loses the “old’ audience for Corvettes it doesn’t matter anymore, because the new generation will make up for it with higher profit cars, even if overall sales numbers are smaller. And the older-but-goodies crowd can vie for the last front engine ones and go down with that ship, just as, say in cameras, I still meet zealots who shoot film. It’s useless to show them the superiority of digital. That will buoy up used Corvette prices. http://**********.com/2019/05/welcome-to-world-class-corvette.html

Which part? The reveal location? The look (that render is a GUESS)? The top operation (also a GUESS)?

To me the most impactful and appealing of the current mid engined cars is the hurrcan, a modern take on mid engined car.. Prior to that it was the 458, classic italian syle in the 21st century and the best looking mid engined ferrari in 35 years. Both the Hurrucan and 458 are origional designs. If this render is the C8, it looks like it was designed on a computer screen by a bunch of engineers. Ok-Nice but hardly artistic. Was looking at a C2 today, that was a knockout. This car is a pastiche, made by people playing on a computer, who added some creases and scoops for orginality. Its not bad, but not great either. But then cars by comitte rarely are. The heavy font end is ugh, given the terrible redo of the camaro front end you can see where it coes from. Looks like a big ass too, thats sadly a vette trait from the c5 and c7, probbaly works in country where peopel like big boobs regardless of the chassis. But lets see it in the flesh, a c7 looks really good in the flesh, far more so than in pics.
It's a Corvette...No mistaking, in mid engine form. I think this is what Chevy wanted to accomplish, they didn't want it to lose it's identity. You can't compare it to a Lambo or a Ferrari. The only comparison to those cars will be when the performance and handling capabilities are tested. That's when some people will say "and how much does that car cost ! "
The problem with American car design is that it IS designed by committee with the marketing people having the final say -so. You know Marketing people. Designers call them "visual morons" I think GM wanted a conservative design to be "safe". That's the Marketing guys talking, not the designers.
Supposedly the major dealers have already seen this car without the camo, and said it was drop dead gorgeous...And that's all they were allowed to say..We shall see shortly...Then the only decision will be how do you guys like your crow, fried or baked..
If your expecting it to look like a Ferrari or Lambo for $70,000, then yes you will be disappointed. As I said before , it's a corvette...
I am not and do not want it to look like either. I don't expect it to be jaw dropping gorgeous either.

They did the same BS with the C7. Then after a year they let anyone have them for sale. I think 3 dealers sell over 1/2 of all Corvettes in the country.
Easy - I’m in Marketing and I know I’m not a visual moron!! Quite the opposite, most of us are outstanding in that department. Where I think Marketing within auto design has failed is “design language”...forcing consistency across platforms. The ridiculous phony grills you see today are an example, I think it sucks.
