I don't get it. Does Kerry and gang work for Jacques or do they continue running MCI and Jacques does the parts? Very confusing!
Well, if the availability of parts stays the same or improves with new parts coming down the pike and not too much increase in the cost of parts to cover the buyout, I think that it is good for all of us Maserti owners. My best wishes for the future of the company.
Quite a surprise, one wonders how it came to be....but no matter, good for them and hopefully good for the classic Maserati world and keeping as many cars as possible on the roads, not just concours fields, in the US and on this side of the pond in the old world where many rely on MIE as well. Hopefully the magazine, Viale Ciro Menotti, will keep getting better, some of the reader's letters and accounts badly need to be edited for proper English and readability. Best regards, Marc
I hope to God Stuart remains in the picture, when the dust settles. Otherwise, looking forward to the usual implications of even less competition in a field where we have less players than fingers of a hand. Regards.
Let's dedicate ourselves, as owners, to drive our classic Maserati's as often and as hard as required to keep the demand for spare parts high enough and keep the supply in production.. Zoom zoom, - Art
Couple of days now with no response to emails. Not their usual M.O. Are these guys still in business??? Regards.
@boralogist, this is Zach at MIE. I don't generally comment on here since we are a business, but I wanted to address your concern. We are definitely still in business and still aim to reply to emails as quickly as possible. I am sorry if we have been slow getting back to you, but I went through our email history and don't show any emails that haven't been replied to. It may be that your email was removed by our spam filter for some reason. In any case, could you PM me your request and I will do my best to get you what you are looking for? Thanks, Zach
This could very well be a change for good, then again it may not. It all comes down to origination, Origination, Origination. You see it's not the quantity of parts available - and that is important - but how they are ORGANIZED. Organization IS the key. Speaking from experience I know that if you can't find it you can't sell it. At one time when I ran MIE we would get in a load of parts from a buyout. Many of them were untagged and not inventoried. Our job was to figure out what they were and get them log into our system with part number table and fig number. I would tell the guys if they are not properly stored and identified we will never be able to retrieve them so you might as well just throw them in the dumpster now, because we would never sell them. All parts had to be put into carefully marked boxes and labeled with clean block legible letters and put on the shelve in the proper bin location, in order to be retrieved. This is the challenge when blending large parts inventories. Housekeeping The warehouse should be spotless, like a hospital with nothing on the waxed floors. Think Costco. The other challenge is to raise your standards high when sourcing reproductions. Think Quality Quality Quality As many of us know parts from China can be a temporary fix at best or just buying time until it fails. Owners want Quality and are willing to pay for it. It is my hope that MIE will with Jacques input rise to challenge. Time will tell how it all sorts out. I offer above buffet style, i.e. take what you want, and leave the rest. Ciao, FGM
LOL! A "Freudian Autocorrect" of the most appropriate kind... Origination is indeed as important as organization... for the reasons you state. I haven't had an issue with either MIE or MS, may their combination be a success. - Art
Is MIE still operational, or did they just give up? I placed an order online with them a week ago and specified overnight shipping. I have attempted to e-mail and telephone with no response for days. Can anyone shed some light on what is going on there?
Not a surprise. Once Stuart left after the Corsican? takeover it was only a matter of time! Try: https://maseratisource.com/about-us/
A local shop that is working on my biturbo got some parts from them recently, perhaps a few weeks ago, if that's any help. They were also talking to them about a clutch issue mid last week, potentially for a new master cylinder.
Last time I talked with MIE was two weeks ago and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. But I would feel frustrated too if I had your experience. - Art
Whatever for? MIE was sold in 2017. It's the poor choice of posting questions about service in this three year old thread that's the issue. You could ask a moderator to split the recent stuff off into a new thread though.
