OK guys I've noticed the North Central region sucks hind-tit when it comes to posts and threads. We're last when it comes to regional communication. View other regions... or maybe we're just a smaller group, dunno.

I"ve attempted to create a couple of threads in recent weeks with little to no reaction. What gives guys? Any "positive" suggestions for more regional activities and/or related stuff?

    Ok it's on the table...

Unfortunately, this section doesn't set the world on fire for replies either. I usually don't even post regionally anymore. We'll try to get better...what were some of your threads? Let's try them here. Nice to have you on board, Jerry.

I moved from Cleveland to San Diego a few years back. I've noticed we have a lot of local weekend car meets - Crystal Cove, Carlsbad and now one "sponsored" by Symbolic Motors in San Diego. These are held in nicer shopping center parking lots early on the weekend or, in the latter case, at an exotic car dealership's service facility.

In Cleveland we had Marshall Goldman. I'm sure there are other exotic specialty dealers who would be ecstatic if you wanted to organize and informal drive-up car show once a month.

I think there are a lot fewer Ferrrari's and exotics in the midwest because the driving seasons is so d@mn short (I stored my sports cars for 4-5 months of the year :( ) but check out the threads in the Southern California region. These gatherings aren't so hard to plan. Just talk to the manager for the shopping strip and ask. Or ask a dealer to promote it - believe me they're happy to know who all the Ferrari guys are ;) .

    Just my .02.

Edit: welcome Porsche and other sports cars - makes the gathering bigger, and there's a lot of cross-interest anyway.

I couldn't agree more with what's been said. I'm here in Michigan and I KNOW there are a lot of Ferraris....something like 500 of them registered. But it's rare to see another one. I'm almost like a celebrity in my small town of 12 thousand. But believe me I'd much prefere to see another Ferrari than to be the only one. An even smaller town about 15 miles south of me has a Ferrari....a white TR with something like 2,600 miles on it. I once saw just the tail end as the garage door was going down. It's truly a shame there aren't any gatherings...except maybe Gingerman. But even that is a bit sketchy this year. I would hang my whole summer around going up to South Haven and watching Ferraris and other cool cars go around the track there. I got to ride in a 355, a TR, and the ride of my life....in an F-40. There is usually a 333SP there too...the most wicked sounding car ever. In Battle Creek last summer I did actually see a gorgeous.....spotless....pampered 308 GTB. There was a fellow named Ormanovich (1st class guy !!) who organized a carshow in Kalamazoo called Italian Plus. It featured other European cars along with Italian ones and was a first class event.....but a bit small as you can imagine. I'm not sure why the show was discontinued...except maybe for reasons sited in previous postings in this thread. Is everybody just too busy to post? Are we too stuck up? I too have started threads here only to end up answering my own questions. I quit posting because I could here the echo of my own voice! Is there anybody out there?

That was pretty much the "echo" I was receiving as well. In fact the last two threads I've posted were to create a "registry" or call list or something to that effect that could be utilized state by state for special events and/or meetings. I received "no" response. Second post was "any interest in going to Indy 500", 1 sarcastic response.

So, while it's a shame. I know there are a number of F-cars in the local area, I might try and hit em up to first sign on to F-chat and then periodically check out the regional info. Although they too might find it's of no value. Currently, I don't think many owners in my area on this site.

Maybe Rob the Adminstrator could make the mailing list available to a regional chairman so that person could email everyone in the area. (Maybe he already does - not sure how fchat is organized.)

I post on rennlist sometimes for my P-car, and it might be a good idea to join forces with them to organize a gathering. Also, all the Ferrari owners have to get their cars serviced somewhere - probably only a few really good independents - so I'd put the word out there. Earl Gibbs in Cleveland, and so on.

Once you get a monthly thing started, word gets out - post tons of pics here. Have it at a high-line dealer so they'll have some cars around. It might only be 3-4 Ferraris and a bunch of Porsches the first month, but at least it's a start.

I missed the Carlsbad (north county San Diego) meet last month and after seeing the pics and incredible video (posted in southern California region) I felt like I missed out.

I went to college near Cincinnati, and I know there are also a lot of nice cars in Cleveland because I used to live there, although you never see them.

Don't know, just tossing out ideas. :(
