Would be great to see Mika involved in F1 again. In the wake of his professional split with his father Anthony, Hamilton has been perusing offers from potential managers. 1998 and 1999 world champion Hakkinen already works with a young F3 driver at his own manager Didier Coton's Monaco-based Aces Group, and said last Sunday: "Perhaps I will come back to F1 as a manager." The Italian sports daily Tuttosport now reports that a deal between Aces/Hakkinen and Hamilton could be made in the very near future. Hamilton's career is currently handled by McLaren, but team boss Martin Whitmarsh is pushing his driver to appoint a "dispassionate, independent" manager. Hakkinen won his two world championships with McLaren and retired in 2001.
I have always liked Mika and thought he was considerably under rated regarding his intelligence. You will notice that while Mika's statements may have been bland, he never stuck his foot in his mouth and always had a positive public image. I believe that and the common bond as a fellow racer may give this rumor legs since Mika's already fought the wars Lewis is now fighting. He can relate to Lewis in a way Anthony never possibly could... Frank
Excellent choice. The original F1 Ice Man is back. It's a good bet that this could happen, since Mika's been at most of the races so far this year, watching in the McLaren staging area.
I know Mika. Last time I talked to him, (late March) we talked about F-1 and the current state--and he had very good things to say about LH. He also was happy about Shuey--hoping that one of the "old guys" could show the youngsters a thing or two. But, as Keke Rosberg was his manager and he has known Nicco since he was a baby, he was not really surprised at Nicco's ability to better Shuey. He never mentioned becoming LH's manager. The key here is that Mika has the respect of many of the sponsors--he never showed up drunk at a party (Irvine), or carried on the way a lot of drivers did--and he can bring that maturity to management.
I've only seen the real juicy ones in print. The link is for a couple of pretty lame ones from a Finnish weekly but I still don't recommend it to those who are easily offended. You know who you are. http://www.hymy.fi/tasta-puhutaan/hakkisen-stripparikulta-alasti IMO, she is much better looking in person.
